Hormonal therapy and Meningioma brain tomors
Back in 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 4A (regionally metastatic) Ductal Prostate Cancer. In addition to surgery and radiation I was on Lupron and Zytiga with prednisone for a couple of years, ending in late 2018. Luckily for me it looks like I was able to make it to remission. Unfortunately in 2019

Re: Taxotere chemo after post surgery IMRT
Has anyone received Taxotere chemotherapy after post surgery radiation? My son age 50 was diagnosed last summer with PC tertiary 5 pattern. First post surgery PSA was 20. PSMA pet showed some invasion to pelvic lymph nodes no where else. Put on Lupron , generic Zytiga and prednisone and given 6 weeks

The sickness rules applied to bereavement.
I had my beloved black Labrador, Paddy put to sleep yesterday afternoon the grief is beyond monumental at the moment. I normally take 4.5 Prednisolone but with the immense stress of the day before yesterday and yesterdays ordeal I have been taking an extra 5mg making it 9.5mg for the last two days.

Do statins help with PAD pain?
I seem to be posting a lot lately, so thanks if you've taken the time to read and respond. Much appreciated. I've been experiencing what my GP calls intermittent claudication of the calf muscles, otherwise known as PAD. I have had high cholesterol since I was a young adult but have remained fit and

Changing from oral to intramuscular prednisolone
This is a shot in the dark as I don't recall anyone else posting about anything similar, but someone out there may be able to advise me. As I posted a while ago, I started on I/M steroids from a private rheumatologist for PMR which had miraculous results. He wrote to my GP asking her to continue injections

Unusual widespread body pain
Hello everyone. I am one of those lucky people who was in remission from RA for over a year but things have taken a massive downturn in a matter of days and my symptoms are so odd, I wondered if anyone else has experienced similar.I was diagnosed with Primary Hyperparathyroidism and RA in 2019 and subsequently

Air travel for the first time in over 3 years - stress and adrenals
So I haven't seen my elderly mother in person in 3.5 years. Before covid, we would see each other at least every few months, if not more often. When I last visited her, it was during Covid, but I drove to see her, which is a 16-18 hr drive (done over 2 days, which I did on my own). This was a few months

Update - prednisone taper and Covid Booster
In the past few weeks, while finishing my DSNS taper from 5 to 4.5 mg, I've noticed some of the original PMR symptoms I had - painful neck and a pulsing in my head to the beat of my heart. When I went to a GP within a week of getting these symptoms back in January 2021, they ruled out having a tumour

You could expect a dose of prednisone to stay in your system for 16.5 to 22 hours. The elimination half life of prednisone is around 3 to 4 hours. This is the time it takes for your body to reduce the plasma levels by half. It usually takes around 5.5 half lives for a drug to be completely eliminated

zytiga and me
After I completed radiation to my prostate they started me on zytiga and prednisone. For eight months it dropped my PSA and then stopped working. I now take xtandi which, unfortunately, has also stopped working. The Zytiga was okay but the prednisone was a bit of a problem. A bit of mood changes and

Reduction of Prednisolone Dosage
I have been on Pred for 10 months. I am experiencing various side effects including weight gain (1 stone), swollen ankles, muscle weakness, skin more easily affected by small nicks and bruises, blurry vision in evenings, and others. I attempted tapering in the summer but other intervening health issues

Exercise and muscle pain
I have had PMR for 5+ years now, 76 yrs old and still weaning down on Prednisone, now at 2 mg. I have strained my lower back with lifting and bending too much as we recently moved, and the Physical therapist has me on mild back exercises. Oh my gosh, I am so sore through my whole pelvic area. How does

2 months into PMR, tried cutting back pred again, get pains but not PMR symptom pains?
What does it mean is I cut back an evening dose from 10 to 5, and then in the am my right wrist sore and swollen, left forearm hurts, pain in the buttocks- upper back leg muscles and generally feel bruised and battered and stiff all over, difficult to get up and walk but no bilateral shoulder and hip

Immunosuppressed???
What is the latest assessment on whether we are immunosuppressed as my GP states anyone on 7.5mg prednisolone and above. Based on that assessment I will not be eligible for the spring booster as I am presently on 4.5mg.

Can't get below 8mg PMR
No matter what I try tapering wise I cannot get my Prednisolone below 8mg, even dropping to 7mg gives me a lot of pain and stiffness.
