Wheel of Fortune
I went for my annual check up, mainly to check my pulmonary lung disease and see that my lung function was not deteriorating rapidly and after all the usual spirometry and other tests my consultant said that things were looking good. Now ever since my diagnosis and successful surgery and adjuvant chemo

At last a bit of hope :)
Thank you to all who have replied, read and tried to advise. My update is as follows, Rheumy going to try me on Rituximab, after Humira failure, also confirmed that my skin problems are vascilitus - finally another confirmation. I had a very detailed appt with the top consultant who was quite amazed

I have my results
Got a phone call last night which was mix of good and bad news. The good news is it's 80% certain my tumour is benign - doing a happy dance right now. The bad news is it is a neurogenic tumour on the lung and is pressing against my aorta, and is behind the aorta so any biopsy, surgery etc, is tricky

Does anyone else have this?
Hi all, I've had my symptoms now for almost 2 years and the medication i'm on doesn't seem to be having any effect. I had an exercise-induced asthma test which was positive and my consultant noted that I showed a significant drop in my oxygen uptake. I only have my symptoms when I do sport and I

waiting for results from ct scan
ended up in a&e a couple of weeks ago due to chest tightness and numbness in my face, chest x-ray showed a 2cm mass in my left lung and today I had a ct scan to check it further. Now waiting for the results and the next stage of finding out what it is. I am truly terrified. Keeping myself busy making

Chest xray, results at last.
Two weeks ago I posted saying sometimes when I cough I bring up some blood. I took all your kind advice and made an appointment for my doctor. He sent me for a chest x-ray, he called me today and said the x-ray was fine, there is nothing to report and nothing suspicious especially no sign of any lung

A very good consultation at last !
I had first appointment with new Rheumatologist last week. I am so pleased to say that he was the best Rheumy I have ever seen ! He said that he intended to begin right from scratch and disregard anything previous consultants had diagnosed. He gave me a full examination, every single joint, fingers

A word of caution about stopping Omeprazole if you take NSAIDs
Having read several times that Omeprazole affected the absorption of thyroid medication, I stopped it some weeks ago. After a while, I started getting breathless with burning pains across my back and down the centre of my front, at first intermittent and then all the time. I felt awful and even thought

Anyone with "normal" FEV1 staged at moderate emphysema?
Hi everyone! I had my first visit to a respiratory specialist today and I'm even more confused. I thought staging was based on PFT results. With an FEV1/FVC % of less than .70 and an FEV1 95% predicted I thought pointed to mild emphysema. Though when the specialist put up the CT scans from May 2013

Could I have some advice please?
3-4 weeks ago I had my first episode of AF in around a year. The docs gave me some more Bisoprolol and I went back to sinus rhythm 40 mins later. Entire episode lasted about 9 hours. Bloods, chest x-ray etc all came back normal and I was told to go straight back to A&E if it happened again. My current

GP's tonight - raging!
Loooooooooooooong back story. Into my eleventh year now of trying to get a diagnosis, but have now been on levo since June 2013 and am much improved. I actually went to the doctor’s about episodes of chest pain not related to exercise. I’ve had a chest x-ray and an ECG, both of which were ‘normal’

Blindsided and Left Hanging…Now What?
Hi My name is Lisa and this is about my husband, Mike. My husband is 56, an ex-smoker for 12 years, doesn't drink, started eating healthier and has lost 10 pounds in the last 2 months. He was doing well except for shortness of breath but "only" when getting up and down. He was out of breath doing
