Constant productive cough and voice problems
I'm new to this site and am looking for some information from people more used, if that'sthe right word, to asthma. I'm 64 and had asthma as a child, which resolved in my teens. I've always been a bit 'allergic' - nettle rash etc and I have perennial rhinitis. I think I picked up a viral infection in

Asthma
Hi, I seem to have developed asthma in the last month or so. I thought I had a chest infection or something. My GP measured my breath strength with a peak flow meter and I was pathetic. I was sent for a chest X ray and given Becotide and Ventolin inhalers. Is there any connection with RA or MTX or

Two years old and tenth visit to hospital
Have looked at this for first time tonight as I lay in my sons hospital bed with him and so pleased to finally realise we are not alone. My son has now had ten overnight hospital stays. Tonight is our second night of this episode. He just needs to have a slight cold for me to panic because I know now

Toddler who possibly has asthma - advice and help desperately needed.
My son is 20 months old. I was home on maternity leave with him until his 1st birthday. During that time he was only ill once with bronchitis when he was 5 months old. It was treated with antibiotics and he was fine after that. He started nursery a week before his 1st birthday and since then he has

Possible Asthma Diagnosis - Need Advice from Parents who know more!
Hello About three weeks ago my 'almost' three year old Son had the start of a bad cold. He was snotty and obviously off colour. His breathing was very laboured during the night and the next day he was prescribed antibiotics by the Doctor. His symptoms disappeared over the next few days and he didn't

Persistent flutter in throat and breathlessness
Hi everyone I had asthma as a child and grew out of it by my teens. Didn't seem to have any trouble with it but just lately I've developed this flutter in my throat which makes me cough. Sometimes it feels like a rush of air like I've been winded. Sometimes it feels like theres fluff stuck in my throat

Help - I am struggling with this thing called 'Asthma'
Last year November ('09), I had the flu jab at work. A week later I had the flu which lasted about 7 weeks after 3 courses of antibiotics. January '10 I returned back to the gym, but was always out of breath with this funny crackling sound on my chest. I went back to the Dr in February '10. He diagnosed

Pneumonia??
So I went back to my GP despite her trying to send me on a Costa del NHS holiday. She now reckons I've got pneumonia, but I'm really not so sure - 1. I'd have thought I wouldn't have been walking to the GP if I did and 2. I've have the pneumonia vaccination so it couldn't be could it? Is she just trying

Being referred to a Consultant - what should I expect?
Hi I've got moderate asthma, currently taking symbicort and accolate. My asthma gets worse over the summer months and once this summer and twice last summer, I was put on a course of steroids when my asthma flared up. I'm a lot better once the Autumn comes along, although I still get a bit of exercise

I've got to have a CT scan
Hi all Well my chest X-ray came back clear. I went to see my asthma nurse yesterday. Thinking everything was great. She says the doctor still thinks i've got Bronchialectisis. It doesn't necessarily show up on the X-ray. I'm fed up because i thought the long journey was over. I've got to go to the

Hello, I've been a mild asthmatic for most of my adult life, nebulised once about five years ago when I lived with a heavy smoker (I don't live with him anymore). I'm a keen runner and I noticed once it got warm I was struggling with my breathing, went to my doctor and was given becotide. Three weeks

Odd sound
I can hear what I think is my lungs inflating and deflating. Sounds like a small drum. Sensation probably similar to the one experienced by my nursery hot water bottle when daft uncle would try inflating it by his mouth. Can feel lungs going in and out. Odd one. Putting earphones on and listening to

Another rant about doctors and advice needed please
OK so as many of you may know I have been having issues with my asthma since January. Back before the new year my peak flow was ranging a normal of 430-450 every day and then I came down with a horrid chest infection that came right out the blue with no warnings and since then I have been seeing my doctor
