Adrenal insufficiency Advice
Hi, This is my first post on this community, as I usually post on Vasculitis community (as I was suspected of having Vasculitis), but I am now looking for advice on Adrenal insufficiency. Until recently I was on immune suppressors but these were stopped leaving me on 5mg of Prednisolone once daily. My

Dilemma over foot operation
I've a dilemma and wondered if any of you had similar experiences. I have Churg strauss which seems to be in remission. I'm off steroids now but have recently started taking low doses of hydrocortisone as the high doses of prednisolone seems to have affected my adrenal system. The disease has left my

High blood pressure
I have just had a check up at my gp and have found my blood pressure is too high. I am checking it twice a day at home for the next week. Does anyone else have this and could it be related to the hydrocortisone I am taking? I am due to see my endocrinologist at the end of May.

High ACTH levels despite steroid replacement
Good afternoon, everyone! I have an interesting situation, and I would appreciate your thoughts and insight. When I was first diagnosed with primary adrenal insufficiency, my ACTH levels were found to be very high, in the 9000 pg/mL range. The endocrinologist that I originally saw started me on 10 mg

Not Addisons, so now what?
Following 6 weeks of very low BP, daily fainting, couldn't drive, hair falling out, depression, lost a stone and a half, couldn't eat, vomiting etc I finally got to an endocrine clinic on 31st March, where I passed out - I was given a short synacthen test immediately and told to take Hydrocortisone 3

Anybody had problems with parotid (saliva) glands?
My saliva glands (in the cheek near the ear at the base of the jawbone) seem to be swollen and sore. I was first treated for parotitis but it didn't go away even after several lots of antibiotics. Also have swelling in lymph at base of neck which comes and goes. Been checked out with an MRI scan and

should cortisone always be combined with DHEA?
The Hertoghe doctors say you need to take DHEA with hydrocortisone or Medrol (unless you also suffer from PCOS). The reason is that DHEA will prevent cortisone from "eating up" too much tissue. Therefore, you are handed a prescription for DHEA along with your prescription for cortisone. Last year, my

An update on my husbands thyroid problem
We had an appointment today with the endocrinologist. They have taken bloods but in the mean time we have made our own discovery. Probaby should explain more that he has a benign tumour on his pituitary gland. For this he takes 125 levothyroxine and 20 hydrocortisone. The tumour was a side effect of

Can someone comment on these blood tests
Hi. I have been reading this site for a while now and consequently that is why we got my husband to have his bloods tested. Based on your information in your area even though his b12 is in range he would still be classed as low??? He has terminal stage four melanoma, diabetes and thyroid problems (caused

Undiagnosed, But Certain I Have This
I've suffered from fainting spells for many years. Past GP could carried-out blood tests and I once had an ECG. My current GP attributed my last incidence of fainting to stress. Luckily, I haven't fainted to the point of passing-out for a few years now. The last time I fainted, I had gone to the bathroom
