I finally had a response from my rheumie. My cortisol level continues to be low and I should be hearing from the endocrinology department for help and advice. I am to continue with 2mls or increase if I do run into trouble. My gp may give me some Hydrocortisone for any infection. At the moment my

Pompholyx
As mentioned in another thread I have incredibly bad pompholyx on the sole of my left foot this year - photos do not do justice to how itchy it can be! These pics are as it started to clear up and don’t really show how red raw the skin was after i’d scratched it off itching - it went on to be dry and

Prednisolone diary 11 - switching to methyl pred
As I posted recently, I've newly developed myositis and my rheumy was keen to give high dose iv steroids. But past experience has been that even small increases in my normal daily pred dose of 4mg causes incapacitating side effects. After discussion with endocrinologist, rheumy agreed to try some variants

Thyroid Medication Issues On Hydrocortisone
Hi All, I have been hypothyroid for a long time and track temperatures and pulse etc frequently. I have never been able to get it under control properly and have had the best results on high t3, which always concerned me as taking 100mcg seemed crazy, but was the only thing that made me slightly better

‘Textbook asthma’ if there is such a thing!
Got told by the paramedics today that I’m an enigma! I’ve had asthma since I was two and I’m now thirty two, my wheeze has always been upper respiratory and my SATS are always 100% I have stridor with every attack and I’m that calm that paramedics have walked in and said, ‘oh it is you, you’re very

Does anyone have tips for treating psoraisis?
I have random patches of psoraisis that dont seem to be responding to the 1% hydrocortisone cream I've been using. It is ages until a GPs appointment comes through. Does anyone out there know of any way of alleviating the symptoms?

"OLD" DRUG WORKS PRETTY GOOD
I just wanted to share with my brothers a treatment that has worked pretty well for me. Having read the Lancet article "Ketoconazole Therapy For Advanced Prostate Cancer", I decided to give it a try. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S014067368492909X which discusses a trial from

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the help I’ve had from everyone on here over the last year or so. To those not in the know I’m at uni, and the worsening of my asthma has led my 4 year course to becoming 7... refused to stop due to stubbornness! You guys have supported me through med changes

Constructive discussion with rheumy :)
I've complained a fair bit here about my rheumy, so it's only fair I should also post when he deserves praise. After the difficulties I had last week in getting my results, he rang me today and discussed treatment options. We agreed on the importance of finding a way of increasing my steroid dose and

8month old ALD
My son was diagnosed at 1 month with ALD. His cortisol levels were checked and his HCT keeps going a little higher than the ACT (I hope I am stating this correctly) and his first MRI came back normal. We are keep a close eye on him, I read constantly about leukodystrophy and Addison’s. Today I noticed

Skin itching on face - no solution from doctors
I used a cream around my eyes in January that stripped my skin barrier and my skin was dry and itchy. I was prescribed Elidel to calm the inflammation but it didn’t work. Flip to today and the itching has spread to most of my face and ears. I’ve seen 2 dermatologists and 5 GPs and they are all stumped

Advice on thyroid results
Hello! Please could I get some advice on my latest thyroid results? My GP tested my TSH only in Feb and the results were 7.6 (previously been between 1.1-1.2 for over 4 years) so Endo consultant decided to start me on 50mg Levothyroxine. I was retested 7weeks later and my thyroid was ‘normal’ so consultant
