Hi I was diagnosed a year ago with ITP and not responded to Steriods, MMF and Rituxamab, only treatment that raises my plaltelets is IVIG temporarily. I have now been referred to Oxford and they are trialing a new drug called Fostamatinib - I had never heard of this but they would like me to start trialing

Treatment
After taking steroids and then IVIG I was wondering what everyone's next step was. Neither of those seem to keep my numbers up for very long?

Introducing myself
I'll try and keep this short......in May 2012 I was under a huge amount of stress in my job and developed dreadful pain in my shoulders and upper arms - three days in I couldn't dress myself. Long story short my osteopath diagnosed PMR and of course my GP tested for everything else but that. In desperation

I was diagnosed (in Sweden) after the usual doctors visit, I had bruising, mouth blood blisters, the red dots all over my body, and a 16 hour nose bleed that really told me something wasn't quite right! I was rushed into hospital with a count of 3, they tested it about 4 times in 24 hours. After 4 days

A little bit of help?
I'm new here and I'm 16 years old, in 2011 I was hit by a car. My left ankle was totally destroyed and after 1 hour of the nurses debating to have my ankle amputated they decided to try their best and repair my ankle, after about a year I started getting really bad pain in my ankle. I would walk only

Spinal Fusion Surgery
I am a 78 year old female with fractures of T-12 L1,2,3,4. I also have severe Osteoporosis, degenerative disc. Fracture was 2 years ago with no healing. Surgery is recommended. What are your suggestions. I really don't want to do this, but am open to other observations.

Explainer: how viruses can fool the immune system
Here's an informative article on the life cycle of B-cells (B-Lymphocytes), explaining how they become sensitised to a viral infection, work to clear it from your body, then go through a quality control process that makes them more specific to that virus and how that can work against us with viruses

I need some advise for ITP
In 2013 i went to the hospital for a general examination and i was told by my physician that i should see a hematologist because my platelets were 78 thousand, so i went to a hematologist for a consultation and he told that I have ITP and recomended me to take prednesone 100 mlg per day for one week.

Mycophenolate mofetil - longer term experiences?
Hello everyone, I developed ITP three years ago despite already taking immunosuppressant medication - 20+ years earlier I had a liver transplant for autoimmune hepatitis. To prevent rejection, I have been taking tacrolimus (Prograf). My experiences during my early days with ITP were much like those

Emotional wreck
I just had my second round of ivig. And both days find myself crying and very emotional. Has this happened to anyone else. I am scheduled for my splenectomy on Tuesday. And that also makes me have anxiety. I feel like I'm being a big drama queen. And just an emotional wreck. I have even written

Where to from here ?
As someone who has previously proffered advice, on this occasion I need some from you guys. I have longstanding acute pain issues, spanning the last 11 years. Following two serious car accidents, the pain across my limbs increased significantly over time and I went from the maximum doses of Tramadol

Myofascial pain syndrome? & persistent knot in calf
I just posted this also on the Patient.co.uk/forum, but thought I would post it here too, so here goes: One of my first PMR symptoms was what I thought was a horrible cramp in my left calf, but it never went away, and was extremely painful when walking. I had recently undergone a spinal fusion, & had

Feeling downhearted.
I had a two level spinal fusion in December, 18 months after I had a disc replaced in my lower back, apart from the usual post-op pain and discomfort I felt I was doing very well. Then 10 weeks post-op I suffered a severe episode of lower back pain so bad I couldn't straighten out or get up from where

Introducing myself
Hello I’m new to this site although I posted the letter from my cousin to make you laugh like I did or at least smile. I hope that you do not feel this self-indulgent but this is the only way I can let you see why I feel as I do. In the 1970’s I fell through a trapdoor during a performance thus ending

Kindness of Strangers
Hi Friends, I just posted a personal reflection on my blog http://bkoffman.blogspot.com about the generous souls that actually give their blood to help keep me and others going with CLL and its auto-immune or infectious complications. I might not be here today if not for the timely administration
