Advice on pain meds for bone mets
Over the last several months the mets in my left hip and femur and lower spine have become quite painful. Currently I take 4-6 500mg Tylenol and 4-6 5mg oxycodone daily....some days it works very well taking my pain level down from a 6 to a 2. However, some days it doesn't provide much relief. I am

I'm new here
I have been in a fight for over a year now with large diffused B cell lymphoma....and it has finally taken its toll on me....my body can no longer take chemo and the cancer has become resented to the chemo...I've been in a clinical trial and even that almost did me in....is there a treatment out there

Do you know about palliative care?
I have read some things about palliative care and think it could help my sister who has PSP. Have any of you used palliative care for your loved one with PSP? And, if so, what would you say about it? As I understand it, it is a fairly new medical approach in that palliative care focuses on relieving

Hormone therapy injections, yea right!!!!
Hi in 2009, 23 December ie two days before Christmas, I was told by the specialist nurse. You have a tumour !! I thought she was speaking to someone else. The reason I was at the hospital in the first place, was because on a routine blood test, my PSA came out at 133.6. A biopsy followed, result was

Dawns Post
I have just read Dawns very sad news and all the replies that have been sent to her and her family. To be facing having to leave her teenage daughters and husband Is so cruel, my heart goes out to her and her family. I am in the same situation, but I am a lot older than Dawn (81 ) and feel so guilty

Feeling broken hearted
Today has been a bad day. We have had a couple of weeks of being stable but today I feel my world change again for the worse and I have lost another bit of her . Mum will not listen to me when I try to help her and instruct/tell her so she will not fall or hurt herself. She is again asking how and where

How long and what to expect.....
Hi everyone, my original post was written 2 months ago. I spoke of my dads 8 year journey with an unknown bile duct/ liver problem. I was reaching out for support following a consultant review that confirmed end stage liver failure and a fibroscan score of 75. Things have deteriorated very quickly and

THE LAST LEG OF THE JOURNEY: Hospice Care
I had made an appointment on August 25 to see about hospice care at home. I didn't intend at that time to start hospice, but I was convinced by the admitting nurse to begin immediately. My medonc (medical oncologist) had suggested stopping the Xtandi and remaining on palliative care,

Pernicious anemia levels and doctors belief of patient needing B12 injections according to the lab levels
I do not know how many patients realize that being in the middle range B12 levels does not mean the patient does not need B12 injections esp when you have thyroid nodules/disease, Narcolespy, pain and on and on. The middle range can cause patients to have neuropsychriatric symptoms, which I was having

The Proper Role Of Medical Marijuana in Prostate Cancer Treatment
Increasing, people are turning to medical marijuana to treat many diseases, including cancers. In a published study it was found that marijuana does nothing to advance the treatment of glaucoma, anxiety, or Parkinson’s disease. The study did not look at any cancers. Not reaching any level of evidence

We are at the crosswords. Dad has always asked that every thing be done to keep him alive. Do we resuscitate Do we re incubate when he can no longer breathe do we keep his wishes to have every intervention or do we send him to palliative care . The five children are divided. He has a feeding tube, oxygen
