Diagnosed March 2016 with stage 2 ovarian cancer. By June 2016 - stage 4 and passed to palliative care . Had dual chemo which unfortunately didn't work. Had several stomach drains removing approximately 7 to 8 litres each time . Also had lung drain and eventually pleurodesis , talc in lining of lungs, this worked well.

Welcome to the family Lindy-hop sorry to hear your news

You mentioned dual chemo and drains was surgery not an option?

in reply to babsclunn

Hi , Thanks for the warm welcome. Initially I was to have 3 lots of chemo , hysterectomy and 3 more lots of chemo. Although I was speedily treated , after I had the scan after the first 3 sessions of chemo , that was when they discovered I had gone to stage 4 , also acquired a pulmonary embolism on the way -- a bonus !!My good news is that I was able to see the oncologist again after 3 months and he was so pleased with how well I looked that I have just had another scan and will get the results next week , so fingers crossed. - I'm just pleased that he wants to review me. I just try to have a positive attitude and enjoy each day as much as possible.

Lindt-hop first of all welcome. Your situation is eerily similar to mine! I'm waiting for a scan next week to see if an op is possible. Diagnosis went from 3a to 4b between first scan and the one after 3 chemos. No op, embolism ( two in fact) injections every day indefinitely (5.10pm as that is when my alarm goes off so I don't forget to inject).

Good luck with your results next week.

All the best, Netti

Hello Lovely Lady,

I've been going to and from the hospital with my special person for the past 2 years (nearly) when she was first diagnosed with stage 3c and we were told she wouldn't make her birthday and she's made 2 birthdays coming up for her 2nd Christmas too, she was told no hope of surgery and palliative chemo, and still going strong! My point is that doctors only assume and they assume too much don't worry about the stats you are an individual and the one thing to do is defy the odds!

Warm Hugs xxx

Hi Indy-hop! Welcome to the most supportive group of people I have ever known. By the way, love your name and it just makes me want to jump up and boogie woogie! Your diagnosis is rough but you will soon find no one here considers their diagnosis as a reason to give up. So many ladies here are doing quite well with stage 4 disease. Your attitude is wonderful and you enjoy your life! Keep that up and take good care if yourself and good will happen. Please reach out here when you need us and let us know how you are doing. Hugs! Welcome to this wonderful support network the ladies (and occasional chaps) on here are inspirational and we all know how it feels to be us. No two people are the same, even those with the same disease and levels, the doctors can only give info based on studies and trials and results. You are a strong lady and sound very positive, keep that attitude going, it has been proven to help, waiting for scan results is pants but necessary. Sending big hugs and positive thoughts for your results. ❤️

I echo all the above, the knowledge and support here is absolutely incredible and humbling, we are with you all the way, love, Claire xxx

Welcome to the site lindy-hop, there are a great group of ladies on here for support. I hope your scan shows all stable and maybe try for a second opinion. I note you have had only once chemo regime and you are not diagnosed at an advanced stage. Surely there are more options for treatment open to you yet! If you are in the Uk, ring the Ovacome nurse for guidance or if in US CONTACT THE American Cancer Society. Palliative can also mean keeping symptoms at bay and not just a bad outcome.
