Why LDL cholesterol goes up on LCHF diet and is it bad for health?
Following LCHF diets raises HDL level, lowers triglyceride, lowers insulin and increases LDL cholesterol. While first three are considered beneficial, there is concern about high level of LDL cholesterol. The presentation below by Dr Nadir Ali, concludes we should celebrate high LDL level because it

Are low carb diets any good?
Low-carb diets could reduce diabetes, heart disease and stroke risk even if people DON'T lose weight by cutting down on bread, potatoes and pasta https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-7162631/Low-carb-diets-reduce-diabetes-heart-disease-stroke-risk-people-DONT-lose-weight.html

Low carb advise please
I have been ttc for 16 months, I know compared its not long but after 14 months I went to see the GP and after several blood tests, they have now said I have mild Pcos. The Dr said I need to change my diet to a low carb and low sugar diet, due to my hormone levels being abnormal and insulin being a factor

Success thus far!
So far I have found that the way I am eating and fasting right now has been the easiest way for me to lose weight so far. Easiest in my entire life! I've been watching everything I eat, and because of being pre-diabetic, I avoid sugars, processed foods, breads, and grains and try to eat more like the

What next
Afternoon all Question I am nearly at the end of the two week trial of LCHF which I must say it has been one of the best tasting and easy plan I have ever followed. Do I now try and go it alone and work out how much carbs I meant to be following for myself or do I sign up to the diet doctor site

Coeliac blood test, when to eat gluten?
I've been on a gluten free diet now for 6 years since I was in my mid 20s as even the slightest amount of cross contamination from crumbs etc. started to set me off with severe bowel issues and I lost 2 stone. It still has the same effect now so I avoid it completely. My old GP put it down to IBS and

Post DIEP surgery exercises??
Hello everyone, I was discharged yesterday after a delayed DIEP flap reconstruction and was given the Breast Cancer Care leaflet with 8 arm exercises. They are the same ones I had to do after the mastectomy 2 years ago. I haven't been given any information or advise about tummy exercises. I'm hunched

AFib and diet
I had my ablation last Wednesday and I’ve had no a fib or heart funny business or anything out of line. I am off of flecainide and only take a low-dose blood pressure medicine to keep my blood pressure down. I am only taking Eliquis at this point as well. My IEP is a hardliner when it comes to diet

keto acid supplementation?
Does anyone use keto acid supplementation along with a low protein diet to help preserve kidney function and prevent further decline in eGFR? I have read anecdotal reports from people who were able to stabilize and even increase their eGFR and other kidney function values by using this protocol. I am

Unresolved thyroid condition
I posted a couple of months ago results from medichecks and historical NHS tests. Since then I have had several visits to the GP who refused to acknowledge medicheck tests (which included T3 and vitamin analysis). I had further NHS tests done which contradicted private tests and which I simply do not

Answers at last and amazing good news!
I went today to get my results from the ARFI scan I had 12 days ago. This test is only for people with Nash and the criteria is all listed on NICE guidelines. In just 3 years I appeared to have gone from fatty liver to cirrhosis. I was informed today that Fibroscans are inaccurate in 20% of people,

Interesting thing I noticed!
So, since switching to a low carb diet, and cutting out sugars, I have noticed a very interesting thing happened. Well, two things actually. 1) The morning & night cough that I have had since November (which sounded like bronchitis, but wasn't) finally went away, and immediately so. 2) The constant

Good Morning!
So, just wanted to announce that I am starting intermittent fasting again and incorporating the low carb, low sugar eating at the same time. So, I last ate at 6:30pm last night, finished by 7pm, so I won't eat again until after 11am today. I will do my best to try to extend the time of my fast to more
