Strong Finger Nails
Since January 2019 I have been eating a plain organic yogurt every day to combat calcium deterioration. Have recently noticed that my nails are stronger than they have ever been. Just hope my bones are too. Wondering if anyone else has noticed the same improvement??

Supplements whilst on Preds
I have looked in the FAQ’s but is there a simple post with the information regarding supplements to take whilst on Preds? If not can someone with more knowledge than me create one please? I’m looking for something that, in one place, lists the suggested supplements e.g. Calcium, Vitamin D etc, the best

I was diagnosed with afib only one time during a routine checkup. It was never found again. I even bought an afib detector that I test myself 3x a day. I have never had any symptoms. With that said, I realize afib is a progressive type of issue. In view that I have great cholesterol numbers and nothing

Why do you need cholesterol?
This was copied from an email I got so don’t go shooting the messenger if you don’t agree :). “I have been trying for years, decades actually, to raise my cholesterol. Finally after a more significant (call it strict if you like) change in diet, it’s happening and that’s a good thing. You see, low cholesterol

Total thyroidectomy
Hi After suffering from breathlessness for a few months, I underwent various tests in April 2021 to try and find the cause. During a lung CT to see if I had any blood clots, I was advised that my thyroid was very large, not in the right location, and multi-nodular and could be the cause of the breathing

Hi all. Well 4 1/2 years after my bypass surgery I found myself with similar angina pains although things went slightly differently this time. At first I think I was in denial about the pain 'was it imagined' 'was it indigestion'? In the end I could ignore it no longer so last Monday (18th) I phoned

Stopping bisoprolol
After being on 1.25 mg for over a year I could function really well, a bit tired ,but nothing too bad. When I was diagnosed PAF in April my dose was upped to 2.5 mg. my world just stopped. Nodding off to sleep when I had only been out of bed for few hours, feeling exhausted ALL the time. Fuzzy

Vitamin K
Hello out there! I’ve been unable to get a doctor’s advice or even a comment on the wisdom of taking vitamin D3 with vitamin K2. I read on Google (!) that D3 ensures the absorption of calcium while K2 directs calcium to the bones and prevents it from depositing where it shouldn’t eg arteries, organs

Zoledronic acid infusion - side effects sound horrendous. Any advice?
Currently researching
Calcium
from marine source - (seaweed) because the standard
calcium
carbonate
supplement is mostly peed out when blocked by pred and proton pump inhibitors. Also looked at Calcium hydroxyapatite but this can cause more reflux with those who already suffer from it.

Calcium content of dairy sourced calcium from casein protein shakes
Hi. I have some casein protein shake powder that claims it has 623mg of calcium per serving. I'm thinking I can pretty well cover my calcium needs with one morning, and one evening shake. Does anyone have any thoughts on this approach? Effectiveness? What percentage of this is actually absorbed? Any

Pill in pocket
Look forward to comments. Seems my cardiologist wants to cover all the bases (more medications = better protection). GP agreed I should try coming off flecainide. Taking Xarelto blood thinner to be safe. Use Apple Watch and take ECG readings at every opportunity. Five days ago I went off flecainide

Rituximab and Systemic Sclerosis
Hi, just wondered if anyone has large calcium deposits ( I have one approx 9 x 6x 5 cm) associated with systemic sclerosis and been given rituximab infusions to help reduce? If so, how were you afterwards and any success with the treatment?

Discussion: Vascular Calcification / bone disorder in CKD
Mortality in CKD is dominated by the cardiovascular domain. We will more likely die of a cardio related issue than anything else. We are the highest risk group of all groups for cardio related death. Death for cardio reasons is more likely than our progressing to end stages of the disease: "Expressed
