Strong Finger Nails

Since January 2019 I have been eating a plain organic yogurt every day to combat calcium deterioration. Have recently noticed that my nails are stronger than they have ever been. Just hope my bones are too. Wondering if anyone else has noticed the same improvement??

Yes. I had the best nails I have ever had for a spell. Now they seem to break off at a certain point. It is a good sign that you have plenty of calcium at the body’s disposal. I also had Greek Yoghurt every day with non coated Prednisalone.

I think mine have now got so hard they split quite low down which is really annoying. They are rock hard though now after all that calcium!!

I've noticed that. I take plain yogurt every day plus ADCAL. My fingernails have always been bendy and would break after a certain length, but now they are impressively long, don't break much and I have to trim them loads. Perhaps I'll load a picture later. Fingers crossed for bones!

My nails have done all sorts . They were great, along with my hair about 3 months in on high dose Pred, then it all went to pot. I was already osteopaenic before I started Pred but that was mostly likely due to chronically low vitamin D rather than low calcium. However, I’m not sure if the nails are a direct indication of calcium level but can show up deficiency but not necessarily. Found thismedicalnewstoday.com/articl...

My nails were less than ideal for most of my life - after starting to take pred they improved dramatically - and I know a lot of others who found the same thing. Not calcium necessarily - some of us weren't taking any, and the poor nails came back once pred was stopped.

It seems we are all so different in all aspects of recovery. With me it is only since coming off pred (now 18 months) that I’ve noticed the improvement. I appreciate your feedback. It’s only by trying to see the whole big picture that we can make our decisions.

I have noticed that my nails grow very quickly and don't split like they used to do, but that's since taking Biotin for my hair. My hair had thinned considerably when on high Pred dose now I shed very little and it is thickening in quantity, although dead straight and fine like baby hair.
