Post laparoscopy
Hey everyone! Iāve got my laparoscopy on the 7th January! Few questions if anyone can help please! Will they take out things during the surgery if needed or would I need a separate surgery for that? What if they find it on my bowels would I have a stoma ? How did everyone cope after surgery? Did you

Endometriosis spread to the kidney & ureter, nephrostomy fitted and more major surgery aheadā¦ any advice or similar experience?
Since my last post I have been in and out of hospital ā¹ļø I had lots of blood in the urine and severe pain in my back and side. After tests and scans they found my left kidney wasnāt functioning and the ureter was blocked all down to growth of endometriosis. The surgeon confirmed in my previous surgery

When I was a child ( a little one!) I had fairly constant asthma. At the age of 11 I was diagnosed as having a strong allergy to feathers and wool, among other things. Of course, when I had asthma my mother would wrap me in bedding - wool blankets, feather quilt. Feather pillows. D'oh. At around that

Latest recommendations from Global Initiative for Asthma.
The global Initiative for asthma #GINA has published their 2021 recommendations for the treatment of Asthma. It is quite sciency but will keep you up to date on the latest treatment thoughts by top docs for Asthma. I found it very interesting, particularly on trying to make sure that people are not

Reclaiming Christmas (sorry, long post)
I spent almost all of November and December 2020 in hospital. A couple of acute admissions (extreme unmanageable pain), a biopsy (took 5 days, rather than 4 hrs), and my debulking op (15 days, not 7). I was finally discharged on 22nd Dec with two carrier bags of medications, a new stoma and a nasty vomiting

theoretical question: lung transplant
Sorry if this question is of the "out there" type. If an asthmatic recipient receives a lung transplant from a non-asthmatic donor, would the recipient asthma be "cured"? I've read about the reciprocal phenomenon -- one gets asthma if the donor was an asthmatic. I am guessing compared living a lung transplant

Not directly hypothyroidism related
I could bang on and on about this but will try to stay on point. Background: Like many of us, I have numerous conditions alongside hypothyroidism. One is obesity, which would be even worse if I didn't diet. Another is fatigue. Another is atrial fibrillation. Another is asthma, which was first diagnosed

Old un needing advice
Despite having had asthma nearly all my life (I am 67 year old female) I have never seen a consultant. I am under constant pressure to change my medication when I can, mostly, do what I want to do. Am I within my rights to request to see an asthma consultant, bearing in mind I live in the far west of

Virus manifesting mostly as asthma?
Hi everyone, My son started daycare two weeks ago and my asthma almost instantly got bad. I assumed it was due to allergens (I am severely allergic to cats and dogs and those are my triggers 99% of the time) so I asked the owner if there are ever pets there or if any of the people cuddling our son have

Call asthma doctor? She doesnāt help much. Long term prednisone.
It seems like the fall often bothers my asthma. I was hospitalized in fall 2019 for 6 days for severe asthma exacerbation. Then COVID started. Iāve been on oral prednisone since fall 2019. Iām on daily 25 mg. My doctor is trying to lower the pred. She says itās not doing anything now my body is just

Reconsideration of peak flow as asthma deterioration measurement
I think doctor should reconsider the peak flow device as main effective method for asthma diagnosis, I think such device is only helpful in patients with non inflammatory asthma like COPD or lung fibrosis, I remember when I was 15 I had lost consciousness due to severe asthma flare up, and I remember

Asthma and exercise question
Hi all, so I just have a few questions about exercise and asthma if anyone can help. I am on inhalers for my asthma and I'm pretty overweight so I want to loose about 4 stone to get me back down to healthier weight. How would it be to best proceed with cardio training with asthma? I am pretty unfit
