Searching for an Adhesion / Adhesiolysis Specialist Surgeon
Personally, I've suffered from intestinal adhesions coming up to 3 years now, and having had several emergency ops for
bowel
obstruction
, I've since refused surgery even in the most extreme cases for fear of making the problem even worse.

Caelyx/onc update
Just an update, it seems the Caelyx is working after all, following another blood test on Wednesday my marker has come back down, the oncologist says the previous blood test was high because at the time I was in
bowel
obstruction
which would compromise the blood test.

Smoking. !!!
I am writing as I am wondering if there's something seriously wrong with me or is it a personal issue. I am still a smoker with emphysema and two weeks ago I went to the Dr, not my usual one at the practice, and when I asked her for Zyban which I have used before and it made me stop smoking, she said

Fearing a bowel obstruction
Hi girls. My poor mum yet another complication. We are fearing a bowel construction. It has been 2 weeks now since any movement. She is very weak in bed but still able to walk to the toilet to pass urine. She still is eating small amounts but we are mostly giving her smoothies full of fruit and juices

Just left my OH at hospital after he got admitted for a small
bowel
obstruction
. The options at the moment are an NG tube or another surgery. I had tears in my eyes as I left the hospital and cried the entire way home.

Mucinous Adenocarcinoma
I'm new here.... Back in 2015, at the age of 21, I had a very large borderline cyst on my ovary that was removed. It came back larger and in February 2018, at the age of 24, I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed. It was Stage 1, but because of its size and having to be drained during surgery

Total bowel obstruction (may be upsetting)
My mum is 4 weeks into a 2 to 6 week prognosis due to going into total
bowel
obstruction
due to tumours squashing her small intestine. She is in a hospice and is comfortable but I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this?

So it's back in a bad way!
Put on palliative care with expectancy of a year if I'm lucky but due to
bowel
obstruction
that I cleared and am now on a low residue diet and steroids...can be months if bowels play up again. Feel like I'm hanging in a tree waiting for branch to snap!

Medicinal cannabis
I’ve been told by my GP that he can no longer prescribe Fentanyl lozenges for my breakthrough pain. I’ve always known they are palliative care drugs. They worked for me. Now I’m stressed about how I’ll cope when my last two are gone. Has anyone else had medicinal cannabis prescribed? If so did it work

Fabry disease
Ive had a kidney transplant in 2007 but the docs never knew why my own failed in the first place. Last week I was at my 3 monthly appointment at the hospital and the nurse knew I didn't have a reason why my kidney failed as it was on the notes. She said that there is a new blood test to test for fabry

Caffeine and spirometery tests
Hi everyone. Ive just been reading about the effects caffeine apparently can have on spirometry tests. Quite suprised when it stated caffeine is a bronchodialator that can last up to 4 hours after having say, a cup of tea or coffee or a coke etc so it could lead to false spirometery readings and so the

7 to 10 bowel movements per day. But still constipated
Is there any way I can stop having this amount of bowel movements per day. Been to see the doctor, she said that there was nothing she could give me for my frequent bowel movements and prescribed me with some Colofac (Mebeverine). And some Biocare probiotics 30 billion.

Intal/Tilade - Medication for exercise induced asthma
I have been doing some research whilst trying to rest up after the weekend, and it seems there are some medications around which target exercise induced asthma. Generally my asthma is reasonably well controlled, but exercise remains an issue for me. For example this weekend, I used ventolin before I
