Just over two weeks ago i had surgery for a closed loop bowel obstruction.....discharged from hospital after a few days. Still experiencing lots of pain and tenderness in area....but not sure what is normal and what isn't? Nobody told.me what to expect!

Hello, I had 8 rounds of chemo and extensive surgery - debulking for ovarian cancer stage 3C. I started on Niraparib 5 months after surgery and coincidentally started to have small bowel obstructions. I feel that the constipation that Niraparib causes is contributing to small bowel obstructions.

Dear ladies, anyone experienced bowel obstruction while on Caelyx/Carbo? I just had my third infusion and already experienced bloating of belly and heavy cramps and vomitting after second infusion if I ate someting complicated but this time cannot keep any even small and simple food inside.

hey does anybody else have recurring bowel obstructions due to adhesions???? Had 4 laparotomy’s and several interventions very fed up of it all

It made my osteoarthritis hugely worse - especially the OA pain that was so bad that I reached for co-dydramol.. that constipated me, which in turn led to a probable partial bowel obstruction. I also developed an UTI.

Could this be symptoms of bowel obstruction?

Was on and off it because of various things to do with my blood's but it was working until I got a bowel obstruction. Which is where I'm at, at the moment. In hospital, tube in stomach draining away what I can't digest. So no bowel movement of my own accord.

I too am feeling a little better, I did go to the hospital in the end, it seems I keep getting partial bowel obstruction and it eventually clears itself, I’ve been told in future I must go straight to a/e as one day it may not clear, I have adhesions and it’s causing strictures in the bowel.

Last year he was hospitilised for a bowel obstruction. I think since then hes developed an anxiety around constipation. Hes tried every laxative on planet earth and is obsessed with his stomach. He tells me his stomach controls his day and doesnt allow him to socialise as much.

Hello ladies I am 5 weeks since bowel obstruction surgery and doing well. I ended up in A & E again earlier this week with chest pain on my right side & right shoulder. The hotline said I need it checked as could be a clot.

I was given morphine but it put me into bowel obstruction so I am now too scared to have any opiate based painkillers. Has anyone found any other pain relief that works and doesn’t slow the bowel? I’ll try anything! At the moment it’s just paracetamol. Thanks, Bianca

As i side note i had an unrelated xray done recently where the dr confirmed on my left side it looks like there is either gas or stool in which case would this not be classed as a bowel obstruction?

I just had a colonoscopy/endoscopy done 3/3 and they found 2 polyps. One was 12 mm. I am very scared of finding out the pathology. I’m 37 with 3 kids and colon cancer runs on my mom’s side. I’m scared.
