Hi girls. My poor mum yet another complication. We are fearing a bowel construction. It has been 2 weeks now since any movement. She is very weak in bed but still able to walk to the toilet to pass urine. She still is eating small amounts but we are mostly giving her smoothies full of fruit and juices from a juicer. She is trying to drink water but prob never enough. She is on 3 docusate a day and can't remember name pixi sulfate? as a stimulant. Any advice or meds recommended. Much appreciated xx

Hi Kakabud,

It really sounds like your Mum’s health professionals aren’t doing enough for her. Who is monitoring her? What have they said? 3 docusate sodium capsules isn’t a lot, I take 2 twice daily plus Laxido powders ( I’ve taken up to 6 of those a day). Plus Domperidone before meals, not so much for nausea but because it helps move food through the gut. I am eating well, unlike your poor Mum, but I do have to stick to a low fibre diet.

You need to find out more....

I hope you do and your Mum can find some relief.

Hugs to you both,

Iris xx

Hi I really think you need to get advice from your mums oncologist or CNS pretty quickly as 2 weeks without a bowel movement is pretty awful

I would seek medical advice before giving her anything further x

Good luck and hope things get sorted for you both x

I agree with Beewild. If she is having or threatening an obstruction, there's a regime to follow of (I think) sips of water and no food. She needs to explore this in a professional setting. Best of luck to you both.
