Cramps - simvastatin
I have been having bad cramping in my left hand for a while now, I ran out of simvastatin nearly a week ago, will be picking my new script tomorrow, and have found that the cramping has now stopped it may be coincidence I don't know, unsure now whether to stop statins altogether or to possibly take a

Statins
I had a call from my GP surgery about taking statins.Apparently my cholesterol is okay but I have a 38% risk of having a stroke or heart attack. Even though I take anticoagulant statins work in a different way and are recommended for me as I am in persistent afib I do not want to take statins but wondered

Cholesterol and CLL
Hoping for some information from the wise ones here - back in January my GP said she wanted to start me on a statin as my cholesterol was high. I said I preferred to try to bring it down myself rather than with medication (and my intent here is not to start a debate on statins - I just prefer a natural

Change of statins from Atorvastatin to Rosuvastatin
Hi guys does anyone have any experience of the above or any comments to share? I've just had an angioplasty and 3 stents (surprise!) and now on asprin, clopridogel for a short while - want to stop the bisoprosol shortly. But my statins have had a change - so has anyone any positive comments for the

Cholesterol and QRISK score
My GP has just completed my annual review and has referred me to the GP specialist Pharmacist to discuss statins. My cholesterol has always been well controlled with a reading of around 5 (I was told my good cholesterol was excellent). This year it has increased to 5.16 and he has also completed a QRISK

Not a PMR question but I’m hoping someone here can help. Sorry it’s a long post. I have been off pred for a couple of months and all is well, fingers crossed. I was offered, because I am now 70, a health check by the local surgery and asked for ESR and CRP to be checked too. They are good but my

I first experienced RLS about 1982. I had no idea what was wrong with me so I just put it down to some sort of allergy. As the attacks were quite intermittent, I didn't seek any help at the time. After about a year though. The frequency and severity of the attacks increased manyfold and was now causing

A few developments - anybody got similar
Don’t want to bore you all but I have had a couple of developments recently apart from having my Rituximab extended for another year. Firstly I am on statins since last Thursday, I am fit, I get out, eat a low carb/high fibre diet but my cholesterol is around 7 so it just shows you. No after effects

Medication
Hi I've had high Cholesterol for quite a few years. My gp gas tried me with different statins but they always cause side effects. My knees aways cause a lot of pain on these medications. I've recently had blood tests my gp has called me in for an assessment. I know he's going to push meds on me. Their

hi folks me again I posted 2 weeks ago about statins. I am on 2.5 mg of prednisone and have been for a month. Last couple of days feel a lot more shoulder stiffness. I just took 5 mg this morning. I flared in January when I tried to go to 2 mg. Question. If I do flare protocol again to 8 mg for 1 -

Trial of eConsult service
My GP practice has recently launched the eConsult service where it said I could get the results of tests etc, so I tried it. I asked for the results from a recent blood test, and gave the date and time. The one that was supposed to be just vitamins. I had one email back saying the request would be

No health issues before diagnosis, now everything is a little scary
Sorry, I can’t give any current thyroid results as am on some medication for an abscess which affects blood results . Am still on 50mcg. Since diagnosis from scan initially last December I have been diagnosed with diabetes , which I’m not happy about really . I had one blood test which was 51, then given

Test results and what to ask my GP
I had routine bloods done last week mainly because of high cholesterol. My results showed not just high cholesterol, but also: Serum TSH 8.7 Serum free T4 12.8 So there's a note about me being subclinical hypothyroid and another about statins. So I'm guessing the GP is just going to want to put me

Speaking to GP tomorrow - which symptoms should I emphasise
I think I am undermedicated with results: Serum TSH level 2.41 mIU/L [0.27 - 4.2] Serum free T4 level 16.7 pmol/L [12.0 - 22.0] Especially as I forgot and took my 50 levothyroxine an hour before the test (numpty) They are against me being on levothyroxine as I can't have any symptoms at that TSH

Medication side affects after NSTEMI
Hi, Male, 47, I appear to be suffering a few side affects of medication following a minor heart attack (if there is such a thing) that was treated with a small stent, 9 months ago. (Atorvastatin, Lansoprazole, Ramipril, Clopidogrel, Bisoprolol, Asprin) These include regularly waking up during the

Hi fellow hearties Just to introduce myself and to say how much I have found this forum very informative over past few months. Sadly I just need to grumble today - no response required as I know so many have far worse to contend with. My story is similar to so many, female who had my symptoms
