Trial of eConsult service

My GP practice has recently launched the eConsult service where it said I could get the results of tests etc, so I tried it.

I asked for the results from a recent blood test, and gave the date and time. The one that was supposed to be just vitamins. I had one email back saying the request would be answered in 5 working days and another email saying it would be 10 working days. Both posted the same day.

6 days later, this is what I got:-

"Thank you for your recent eConsult request. Most of your recent blood results have come back normal, noaction apart from your thyroid, Cholestorol. An appointment has been made for the doctor to review these with you (date middle of next month).

Someone cannot spell cholesterol...

Not what I asked for. I know exactly how the review will go - your TSH is too low (it has been around 0.02 for 6 years), and your cholesterol is nearly out of range. Here, have some statins and we will drop your Levo dose.

Sigh. This is a GP new to the practice and she has obviously not read my file. Over the years they have dropped my Levo from 350 a day to now 75. I take NDT and have told them, and it is on file. I do get my presciption of Levo as a fail safe.

I have time to get a T shirt with "I am not a number" on the front and "I am a martyr to my hormones" on the back.

If you see the news and there has been an old hag arrested for shouting at a GP in West Wales, please send cake with a file in it.

can relate- also E Consult- south wales. Whomever has measured it a success and let’s do it more… well based on what evidence one wonders. Had a classic email which summed up the whole system advised me I would get a

“routine telephone call appointment on September the 221th!”

Just driven 7 miles to the surgery, picked up the results and drove 7 miles back. The appointment was for vitamin test but they seem to have tested everything apart from vitamins! Interestingly, the nurse asked for TFT test and they tested the T3! Could this be a way round the not testing anything apart from TSH?

There is one thing that is puzzling me - low Serum Organic phosphate at 0.69 (0.80-1.5). I looked it up of course, and it is related mainly to alcohol consumption and anorexia. I have the odd glass of wine and am not over or under weight. Any ideas?

tattybogle - I do have a feral cat that is keeping the vermin down, but I dont go near it! The ram (John Thomas) is a sweetheart. I, um, have been known to be "assertive" though!

Not what you're looking for?
