Hi guys does anyone have any experience of the above or any comments to share?

I've just had an angioplasty and 3 stents (surprise!) and now on asprin, clopridogel for a short while - want to stop the bisoprosol shortly.

But my statins have had a change - so has anyone any positive comments for the new to me Rosuvastatin - reading the 'blurb' I do have a concern regarding diabetes etc

Hope some of you may have some useful experience for me to be reading.

Huge thanks guys👍

Hi, I was on 80mg of Atorvastatin after my NSTEMI (Nov 22) as well as the normal cocktail of other drugs. Since then I've had my dosage dropped to 40mg, increased back to 80, dropped and then swapped to Rosuvastatin but I really didn't get on with it. Terrible achy legs at night which kept me awake. Back on Atorvastatin at 20mg but keeping an eye on cholesterol which has crept up in case I need other intervention (like ezetamibe as well). Can take a lot of trial and error to get our meds right as one size really doesn't fit all. Good luck

rosuvastatin is hydrophilic unlike atorvastatin which is lipophilic which results in less side effects and less interactions with other meds and things like grapefruit juice. It also has less tendency to cause muscle inflammation than atorvastatin despite being more potent than atorvastatin mg for mg. I wouldn't worry about its causing diabetes unless you have a predisposition toward developing diabetes. Nevertheless you'll have periodic lab work to monitor lipids, muscle enzymes(total CPK),liver enzymes, blood sugar and HgA12

I had to change from Atorvastatin to Rosuvastatin because the Actor gave me some side effects.I've had none of the same issues with Rosuvastatin, and my husband uses it too.

I'd recommend for people whom are on statins to try the Rosuvastatin anyway. Especially if they are concerned about side effects.
