Hi I've had high Cholesterol for quite a few years. My gp gas tried me with different statins but they always cause side effects. My knees aways cause a lot of pain on these medications. I've recently had blood tests my gp has called me in for an assessment. I know he's going to push meds on me. Their main concern for me is triglycerides I'm borderline diabetic. Has anyone else found this issue with side effects. I'm dreading going to be honest. I'm in a good place at the moment. I'm losing weight I've found a great exercise program that really suits me I don't want these awful meds to halt my progression to feeling better.
Medication : Hi I've had high... - Cholesterol Support
Medication
You have a great opportunity to explore all the alternatives with your doctor.
Write down all your concerns and the side effects you had so you have it all clearly in front of you.
It is worth finding the right medication for you to try to hold everything in as good a balance as possible.
It is inevitable that you will be worried and your Dr should be able to explain what your best options are and help you make informed choices. Much will be depend on the numbers the blood test shows.
Best wishes
I've had bad reactions to statins but finally discovered that taking one tablet a week for six weeks, then increasing them very slowly solved my problems. I'm not that keen on taking them but my cholesterol was 8 so hoping statins will lower it. Hope this helps.
