This is my experience so far, It’s now six months from my last set of blood results, my local GP surgery have accommodated my blood test requests without issue.

I suppose the first year I stuck relentlessly to a diet of the lowest possible low saturate foods, exercise and very little alcohol. Blood results six months ago were very good albeit blood sugar HBA1C raised to 43. I must admit I have relaxed my eating regime, with a few more treats whilst still keeping to the low sat regime. Alcohol has increased to 8/9 units a week(little more when on holiday) but still keeping up with fitness regime. Just had my bloods taken this week and surprisingly they are still very good, HBA1C dropped to 41 total cholesterol dropped to 2.8, and LDL is @ 1.

my weight dropped from 11st to 9.5st and doesn’t seem to want to increase .

The effect of statins seem to be working well for me wrt reducing lipid levels, only side effects are farting and maybe minor skin rash.

Keep up the good work. It is paying dividends.

Do you think the hba1c is elevated bc of the statins? Mine are in the prediabetic range too since starting the statins.

My HBA1C was prediabetic 6/7 years ago but reduced or went away. As it’s reduced in the last 6 months I’m not sure whether the raise is linked to statin for me. Time will tell I suppose.

As a matter of interest what medication are you on?

It is bisoprolol that is frequently mentioned as contributing to weight gain so wondered if you were taking that but still managed that impressive weight loss.

Hi, meds are Avorastatin, Rampril and Asprin the weight loss wasn’t planned just seemed to be a consequence of diet and exercise 😲

Yes, can you pretend you were taking bisoprolol so we can use it as an excuse for not losing weight!

Hi. I had NSTEMI in Sept last year. Angiogram showed no blockages so didn’t need any treatment. I am on the same 3 tablets as you with no side effects. I had bloods checked 2 weeks ago and results were very good. Cholesterol 3.2 and 1.9. Occasionally my heart pounds for no reason and I was wondering if this happens to you. I don’t have any pain but it does make me feel quite anxious. I mentioned it to the nurse when I had my blood results but she didn’t seem too concerned. I’m impressed with your weight loss. Can I ask what exercise you do as maybe I’m not doing enough. Thank you.

Hi I do get the heart pounding occasionally not for any reason I can put it down to, usually when laid on my back in bed. Exercise wise started to do park runs, completed about 40 to date, typically we walk most days covering 25 miles a week. We just walk to the shops or into town we have the time. Better weather get out on the e-bikes few times a month.

We were doing most of this type of exercise before the NSTEMI hence it’s not because of.

Hope that helps.
