When does supplementation become toxic or counter-productive?
My Dear Fellow Adventurers, Firstly, thank you for the wealth of information and inspiration - having this commuity makes so much difference! I have a question today, that I have already asked both my doctor and pharmacist (neither were able to help): as I add a new supplement every few months

post surgery FLOT decision!
Hi everyone we’ve got an appointment with the oncologist tomorrow to discuss whether or not to have the 4 cycles of FLOT. My husband was staged as T4a N1 or 2 and M0 and it was touch and go whether he could have the surgery. We were told because the tumour was so large and bulky he’d go for a trial dissection

good morning everyone I don’t know if anyone on here has had any experience with tooth whitening products, only I’ve seen an advert for a tooth whitening powder which I’m very tempted to try, especially as it’s dentist approved and is peroxide-free. I’m just wondering about the Alendronic Acid I’m

Hello Everyone. Having had trouble going down to 4mg Pred previously, I'm nearing the end of a 6 month taper from 5mg to 4mg. Over the last couple of months I have had a really stiff neck and shoulder pain on one side. I can't decide if this is symptoms coming back, or osteoarthritis, because I definitely

Taking Alendronic Acid & Dentists won't touch me!
Wanted to have some dental work done & on speaking to a specialist dental surgery, when they heard I was taking Alendronic Acid & Prednisolone they just didn't want to touch me. Have been to visit my regular dentist today who said anything like an extraction or implant he wouldn't do & I would have

amino acids not recognised as essential in humans such as taurine play a role in fibromyalgia,
In this study, researchers measured the level of 20 amino acids (critical components of proteins). They found that overall levels of amino acids were lower in fibromyalgia and that seven amino acids were especially low, including taurine, alanine, tyrosine, valine, methionine, phenylalanine, and threonine. The

9 years and counting with PMR!
Feeling frustrated having been 'diagnosed' with PMR in 2014, initially controlled with prednisolone and then Methotrexate introduced in 2018 after I queried my diagnosis and treatment plan. Initially I was able to reduce preds down to 5 mg daily with 25mgs methotrexate weekly but I am ow struggling again

Will Alendronic Acid affect my RLS?
I have Osteopenia and have been advised to start taking Alendronic Acid to prevent me developing Osteoporosis but am worried it might make my RLS worse. I take Requip and seem to have it under control.

Closer to checkmate to Parkinson's (1): what Dr. Phillipson says.
This year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of a writing by Dr. Phillipson and an interview about its content. Oliver T. Phillipson is a Harvard scientist. A sage who accumulates decades of experience in the study of aging, mitochondria and Parkinson's disease. And he has a dream that

Dexa scan
I thought I would share my experience. I have just been for the above, having questioned the need for me to be taking Alendronic acid. I was told by my GP that I “might as well” take it when started on Steroids. I hated the ritual of having to get up earlier on the day I had to take it and then when

Questions about taking Alendronate (Fosomax) and hydroxyeurea
I have Et with Jak 2. I was diagnosed last year when my platelets were around 600. After having a physical and a bone scan my gp just recommended taking alendronate for osteopenia. I walk 3 miles a day and work out. I have concerns about doing this especially with taking hydroxy. I have a friend whose

Hyaluronic acid excess
Hello Given the serious and worrying range of symptoms that are discussed here, I hope it's not annoying to ask about a minor one. I'm wondering if anyone else has a problem with excess hyaluronic acid and if so what facial moisturising creams are appropriate? A post I saw here some months ago helped
