Will Alendronic Acid affect my RLS?
Alendronic acid is a bisphosphonate, so generally no.
See the following recent thread (bisphosphonates sometimes tagged as bisphosphates in the US):
Acordig to the NHS website t can cause muscle spasms which may be confused with RLS but its because it can lower blood calcium. Have a look at this: youtu.be/2Qv01Wfq3LQ
Hi Brenda, I don,t know much about Alendronic acid, but I am pretty well clued up on Requip. I was on these for my restlegs and at the beginning they were marvelous. However two yrs down the line, I was having breakthrough and found myself having to take more and more of these to get to the same effect that they first had.I had to wean off them very slowly, as my Gp explained to me that they had caused augmentation, hence the need for more and more. Coming off them was hell altough my gp gave me Tramadol to try to help with the symptons of coming off them. I am currently taking Baclofen 20 mg twice a day, and I also take an iron supplement and a magnesium supplement. So far so good. All I can tell you is that Requip is great at the start, but believe me, after some time, they will turn on you and cause really bad augmentation, and when that happens, you have to come off them. I hope this info helps you some.
I am 28 years past menopause and was diagnosed with osteopenia about 8/10 years ago. I have been on Evista (Raloxifene) for 10 years. Just recently had my bone density test and I have not gone from osteopenia to osteoperosis in 10 years. I am very active walking and doing weight lifting so that maybe be part of the reason. I had never heard of Alendronic Acid but interesting post.
