Still have aching legs and back when walking after Ablation 5 months ago
I am still feeling weary a lot of the time 5 months after Ablation. Down to 25mg per day of Atenolol from 10mg per day Bisoprolol which made me feel even worse. Also at doctors request taking 10 mg per day of Atorvastatin. My heart rate down to between 60-70bpm and no AF now. Cholesterol is 3.8 and

Another weird symptom
From time to time I get a fizzing sensation in my head that seems to have a pulse. It passes quickly. A bit like going under gas at the dentist in the old days but really brief. It's more scary than painful. I wonder if it is a new side effect. My blood pressure is raised and I take Atenolol. I wondered

What "should" I be feeling like?
I've had GCA for 3 years now and my prednisolone dose is down to 5mg. I had thought that by now I would be feeling a lot closer to "normal" than I actually am. I still feel extreme exhaustion, like being completely drained of energy, not really tired. Also as if I have permanent flu. I have very bad

Ablation for ectopics?
Hi. Newly joined this forum and have been reading some of the discussion topics on cardiac arrhythmia with interest. Atenolol problems
I was prescribed Atenolol a few months ago for steroid induced raised blood pressure and haven't really felt well since. I am on 25 mgs although the GP wanted me on 50 mgs. I have taken Propranolol in the past with no ill effects but the GP said that Atenolol had fewer side effects. My blood pressure

Understanding lab results TSH 0.025
Hi All I am confused...not uncommon, but specifically by my most recent lab results. TSH was 0.025 (range 0.340 - 5.600) and T4 18.6 (range 8.0 - 18.0). The GP response is 'OK- no action' It looks to me as if both readings are out of normal range. I take 225 mcg of levothyroxine daily. I've also recently

New Year's good wishes - and a plea for help.
Hello all, and a very happy, healthy New Year to everyone! I'd be grateful for advice/opinions on a problem I'm having. I've been diagnosed with AF for a year, and am on Warfarin and Atenolol. I'm due to see an EP in mid-January. I now have a cold and chesty cough, which I picked up from family members

Respiratory Symptoms and alarm
For the last few days I have had a thinly running nose, followed by a slightly infected nostril. Yesterday my nose was so blocked I couldn't breathe, neither could I blow it. It was as if the nostril lining was swollen. I then developed a tight sensation in the whole length of my oesophageal area, almost

Wrong decision?
Hello friends! While waiting for Barts (London) to arrange a cardioversion, I finally plucked up courage to ask to see an EP, and now have an appointment in January. However, I've just had a phone call offering the CV on 30th November. I have declined this until I've seen the EP, as I feel I don't know

Swollen throat sensation!
I couldn't get to sleep last night because when I was lying down I felt as if my throat was closing. I have also noticed difficulty in swallowing the calcium torpedoes I have been prescribed. Am I just getting into a tiz again or is this a side effect of Pred. ?Or a PMR symptom? I am also on Atenolol

Fingers crossed
Just posting here as I find it hard to discuss with family and it may help those new to this. Have spent a Saturday morning in A&E after 72 hour spell of AF, the longest I have experienced. I was not getting too anxious as I am already on warfarin and the symptoms were manageable. All previous episodes

Are the Beta Blockers cause of Diabetis?
Betablockers like Atenolol are used for Hypertension. Are they the cause of destroying the beta cells of pancreas? Is diabetes caused due to that effect? Prolonged use of betablockers is known to cause diabetes. If that medicine is meant for destroying the betacells to block their function to reduce

ANNUAL ECG
I used to have an annual ECG at the GPs Surgery because I am taking flecainide and Atenolol.. The Hospital suggests that I should still be having this but my GP said it is not needed unless I go into AF and will not be done automatically every year now. Should I check back with the Hospital on this

POST STROKE AF
I am new to this site and find it very informative and reassuring I started getting a rapid heartbeat about 5/6 years ago. This began when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Eventually I was referred to a cardiologist. An ECG revealed nothing. I then had a 24hour/7 day monitor. This revealed paroxysmal
