AF retest
I was diagnosed with AF in 2017 and was prescribed Apixaban/Sotalol/Rosuvastatin; I was already taking Bendroflumethiazide. For the last 7 years I have had yearly health checks at the GP's, bloods, blood pressure and weight. My questions are - have I still got AF, do I need to be re-tested? It

Alternative for Bisoprolol?
Hello, You may remember I made a post about struggling on bisoprolol. The doctors have lowered my dose as it’s been making me feel quite unwell. I just wanted to ask what alternatives are out there and which ones seem to be tolerated the most by people? I have cardiomyopathy, I’m 25 and I have low blood

Electrolyte drinks?
I have had Afib since 1990 after an ACL surgery where I had a horrific response to General Anesthesia and Opioid pain meds. I am a redhead and have many of the redhead syndrome responses to drugs. I am on atenolol and have had a failed Ablation. I hydrate well but wonder what electrolyte powder or drinks

Dry cough side effect of Losartan?
I have been at stage 4 for 18 years and as my consultant says ‘remarkably stable’. I have CKD and an acute kidney injury due to Perindopril not suiting me. I take Amlodipine and Atenolol. I was prescribed a low dose of Losartan earlier this year for newly diagnosed proteinuria. I’m wondering if my

Atenolol v Diltiazem
I have been taking Diltiazem for about 3 years to control my heart rate because of AF. However, my ankles and feet have become more swollen recently and I cannot get my wedding ring on either. My GP has suggested I take Atenolol instead. The other alternative is to increase the water tablet. He was

Changed from atenolol to bisoprolol
Hi! I saw my consultant nurse on Tuesday who said my recent ziopatch showed more ectopic beats and episodes of VT. I was on 50mg of atenolol once a day for 10 years, had no issues but did feel it maybe wasn’t quite working as well lately. So she has switched me to bisoprolol 2.5mg twice a day. I’ve had

BP issues.
So I've been on this forum for approximately 2 years. When I was first diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease, my blood pressure had exceeded 179 /90; my eGFR 55. Upon seeing my PCP, I was prescribed Losartan 25 mg daily. I titrated dose 12.5mg twice day; I was overweight by 50 lbs. Now, 2 years later

Stopping Losartan
Hello. I wonder if you can give me some advice. I am 73 years old. I have been living with some degree of hypertension most of my life, and on medication since I had an aneurysm in 2005. A dose which controlled my blood pressure of Atenolol 100 + Enalapril 10 was established not long after that, and

Atenolol supply, upset by new alternative.
I am in Scotland and have been taking the same brand of Atenolol for over 20 years, it is the Almus Bristol brand which is also lactose free. I have many gastric conditions and also biliary/ liver problems and for some reason this tablet has given me no side effects in all this time. Fast forward

Are all Blood Pressure Meds Awful?
I realise they may be/are lifesaving, but after nearly 30 years I am running out of options for BP control. For many years I took 25mg atenolol, 20 Lisinopril and 1.5 Indapamide. The latter seemed to make the biggest difference. I can’t take large doses of beta blockers as they stop me from breathing

afib and a flutter
I was diagnosed with Afib after I lost my husband in 2020. It does run in my family, but up to 63 years of age I was perfectly fine. Long story short I was just put on Atenolol and my hair is falling out. Has anyone ever experience this? Atenolol is a beta blocker.
