Any dry mouth success stories?
Currently waiting for my new dose to kick in as I've been under-medicated for awhile. The symptom that worries me most is dry mouth. It affects speech, singing, eating, and—no one ever mentions this, but it's an obvious one—my sex life. So basically all of the good things. Very distressing. I'm finding

A possible help with Nystagmus
NYSTAGMUS Nystagmus most commonly causes the eyes to move involuntarily from side to side in a rapid, swinging motion. It can also cause the eyes to jerk sideways or up and down. Nystagmus is usually acquired during early infancy but can also develop later in life. The condition can improve slightly

Freaking out a bit - sorry if this is a bit off-topic!
Hi all I’m after some advice on how to find the best local, private endocrinologist. We’re in South Yorkshire so can get to Leeds/Sheffield type radius pretty easily. My question isn’t for me but for my wife (she’s only 42). We found out today she has hypertensive retinopathy (grade 2) but until today

Stem Cell Human Trials for Macular Degeneration
We aren't there yet with Parkinson's Disease, but I still remain excited about the possibility of turning back time with stem cells. Even if the disease continues to progress, we may be able to refill our tanks with dopaminergic neurons. "Researchers at the National Eye Institute (NEI) are launching

New Update on itchy eyes... all good ... 👋😊
New update on itchy eyes or dry eyes etc. All good...👋 😊 I thought I wrote before this, but maybe I forgot to post because I do not see my letter on here! I've been all healed up from the itchy eyes misery for few months now and all I did is stop everything I'd been using to ease the itch and pain

Macular Oedema
Hello everyone. The saga with my eyes continues. I went to the Optician, a different one this time, for a sight test. My GP and Rheumatology Helpline had told me to restart the Hydroxychloroquine but I felt that I needed to get my eyes checked first. On Tuesday the optician found fluid on my macular

Update cloudy blind vision
Hi, Update from my previous post I saw my GP last week and told him about my cloudy blind vision episodes. The only suggestion he could think of was a drop in my blood pressure as this happens at night and I have been laying down for a long time. He checked my blood pressure from laying down first and

I was given the wrong dosage of Prednisone....?
Haunting question....did this matter. When I woke on August 5, 2019, and was blind in one eye I called the ambulance since I live alone. After multiple doctors and exams in the emergency room and a diagnosis of GCA, an opthamologist gave the order for me to have 1000 mg of prednisone, IV, for three

Deadly ‘superbugs’ destroyed by molecular drills.
Molecular drills have gained the ability to target and destroy deadly bacteria that have evolved resistance to nearly all antibiotics. In some cases, the drills make the antibiotics effective once again. Researchers at Rice University, Texas A&M University, Biola University and Durham (U.K.) University

Bumps in the road. PMR tapering seems to have provoked GCA
Bumps in the road I first posted here around 3 weeks ago when I got the news I had PMR, well I had that news 2 or 3 years ago but didn't understand so stopped the pred after my first script ran out, after all I was cured right ? Well I know different now, what actually happened was a slow insipid relapse

Second time around
I've been a huge fan of the C25K programme, since I first completed it about five years ago at the age of 52. I followed it up with lots of Park Runs and over a year I managed a PB of about 26mins. Which I was gobsmacked about (in a good way)! And kept running for the next few years. Then about two

Cloudy blind vision
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has experienced this: In the summer I got up in the night for my usual trip to the loo and I had to stop walking as I completely lost my vision. I couldn't see anything and it was like I was in a thick cloud. I stood blinking my eyes for a few minutes and then my vision

Scleroderma & Sacral Nerve Stimulation Trial for bowel problems
Has any one undergone a 2 week trial of Sacral Nerve Stimulation? Wondered how it went, and if successful did it work straight away or was it slow to show results over the two weeks. My bowel hasn't worked for three and a half years, constipation & soiling. Deep joy. Thank you.
