Flaky skin made me think of dandruff...do you think it's died out...dandruff I mean. I remember a girl at school who had awful trouble with dandruff...her shoulders were always covered in tiny white bits...perhaps modern shampoos like Head and Shoulders have eliminated it... And little children wearing

Self-testing machine for checking INR
I am on warfarin having decided, for various reasons, not to go onto one of the new anticoagulant drugs. The only drawback is the regular blood testing. Has anyone any experience of the self-testing kits such as CoaguchekXS system? I was slightly concerned to read the NICE guideline which state that

Thyroid ruined your (curly) hair?
Then take a look at the Curly Girl method. Basically modern products usually contain silicones, which seal the hair and make it look OK temporarily, but need harsh shampoos to remove them when they build up. By using silicone free conditioners and styling products, and avoiding sulphate shampoo you

Liver Biopsy Results today.....
Tonight i learned i have PBC and Autoimmune Hepatitis overlapping each other. Crazy, I know. I've read a lot about Ursodiol /Actigall drug. I have been on it two weeks. It is supposed to help with the bile and relieve the itching. It will not stop progression of PBC since there is not a cure. If

Phlebitis and SLE?
Hi . Just wanted to know if anyone else has suffered with Phlebitis as a SLE symptom or if it is my meds that might be causing it. It is bad enough that I can't walk very far but now I have an inflammation of the blood vessels in my foot and leg! Any info would be helpful.

Sleeping Problems
Hi. I wanted to know if anyone had some good tips for sleeping well? My quality of sleep is not good most nights. I am trying to come off the last bits of Valium I've been taking but am finding I wake feeling anxious most mornings. I am also on Mirtazapine anti-depressant which does help a bit. I like

selenium supplement
I have just purchased Biocare 100mcg selenium supplement to assist in conversion of T4 to T3. I take my Levothyroxine in the morning, how soon after can I take the selenium supplement? It would also be nice to know if anyone is getting good results with a particular brand of selenium and what dosage.

Newly diagnosed PE and scared :-(
Hi all, I'm 35 years old and had severe chest pain since New Year's Eve, which I thought was a pulled muscle. Last Thursday I was diagnosed with a PE after blood test and CTPA scan (no leg swelling at all). I've been having daily blood tests, Heparin injections and Warfarin tablets but feel very alone
