Heme iron versus ferrous gluconate
ADT
causes the symptoms of anemia & some GPs respond by recommending iron. Myers was fed up at one point about the number of patients who had way too much iron - thanks to their GPs. As Myers says: men don't bleed, at least not on a monthly cycle.

Low Testosterone Linked With Mortality Risk in Aging Men - by Jeff Minerd , Contributing Writer, MedPage Today May 13, 2024
No way to know if this is applicable to those on
ADT
, but it would seem to be relevant for consideration. The highlighted portion is a useful guide on male sex hormone targets for those testing them. These results might also add support for Morgentaler's "Saturation Model" for testosterone.

Severe cramps and ADT
Once I started
ADT
(Lupron, abiraterone, prednisone), I started getting severe leg cramps at night. So bad and long lasting that they made me nauseous. These were coupled with occasional toes curling suddenly and very painfully and also jaw suddenly clenching.

Second Gen ADT Drug Issues
Dont remember seeing this on here yet. I guess one weighs increased risk of dementia vs stopping PC. Wouldnt want to be in that position. I remember back before my SRT went on Bicalutamide for one month before SRT started and then stopped when I read that is also linked to dementia. Crap. https://www.urologytimes.com

how fit can one be on ADT and abiraterone?
I have been on Lupron and abiraterone for less than two months and I have gone from doing 50 consecutive push ips to 10. I am slim on KETO diet but am disenchanted with the lack of ability to maintain any muscle. How much strength can be maintained on these meds?

eGFR down 14% since starting ADT
I just noticed that my estimated GFR which measures kidney health is down from 89 in October to 77 in June 2023. In October I started Lupron. Does Lupron impact kidney health? This is something I want to keep track off. Mark

Weight training and ADT
I thought maybe there was someone else out there who entered this treatment journey in good shape who might have some ideas for me on how to cope with
ADT
side effects. I am 59 years old and a little over 6 months into
ADT
. I will have between 6-12 months more.

Intraductal Carcinoma & Cribiform pattern 4 treatment options?
I am reading that the IDC-P has poor response to
ADT
, CT (chemo), and external beam radiation. Anyone who has news on recent/upcoming medications, clinical trials or alternatives to existing ones?

Sweet!
Had 2nd of 90 days Lupron Feb 1-23 as adjuvant 6-month
ADT
therapy with my Salvage IMRT. First PSA test yesterday and T level. Undetectable (less than .006 uPSA) and T level of 30. Here's to hoping it stays down.

Acupuncture and Hot Flashes
I am now 15 months into
ADT
and hot flashes have been epic. Every 1 to 2 hours - full body flop sweats for 3-5 minutes. I have gone to wearing black shirts so it doesn't show too much.

Enzalutamide (Xtandi): Start at half standard dose to extend efficacy time span?
Since January 2018 I have been on
ADT
, had docetaxel chemo in April 2018, radiotherapy to the prostate, seminal vessel and pelvis in November 2018 when PSA dropped to <0.1. PSMA PET CT scan in March 2019 showed metastasis on spine and hip joint which were treated with SBRT.

Gleason score 8 and lots of questions...
My urologist recommends HDR with a brachy boost plus 12 months of
ADT
assuming the scans come back negative. This surprised me a bit as he is a surgeon but he noted, as I have read, that this treatment plan has the best outcome for aggressive high risk prostate cancer.

experience with ADT, specifically Casodex followed by Eligard shots?
Hi there, Met with RO and have been doing a ton of reading. To be honest, it can be a bit overwhelming the options/drugs out there. The RO is recommending a 30 day treatment of Casodex hormone therapy concurrent with PET scan scheduling, followed by injections every 4 months of Eligard for 2 years or
