A Clinical Trial saved my Life ..12 years a Survivor of Advanced Metastatic Prostate Cancer, Stage 4.
When Alfred Samuels was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2012, it felt as if his world had fallen apart overnight. Doctors said surgery wasn’t an option for him because the cancer had spread beyond his prostate, and he started to lose hope. But then he joined a clinical trial and began treatment

ART Systematic Review of the Decipher® Genomic Classifier in Prostate Cancer
The Decipher results helped me decide on sRT (salvage radiation) immediately and 2 years of
ADT
follow up. If nothing else its a good biomarker for your PCa and will help you further refine the visual GS gleason grade you received.

Enzalutamide/Xtandi monotherapy as ADT with fewer side effects than Lupron
Enzalutamide monotherapy can improve the quality of live for advanced prostate cancer patients. Thank you, Prof. Tombal, for promoting this arm in the Embark trial! Enzalutamide does not lower testosterone and estrogen, it even increases the level of these. This avoids the following side effects of

Should I start ADT ?
I have not started
ADT
together with pelvic radiation as my Urologist felt that
ADT
won’t have much benefits to me at this moment as my Gleason score is 9. He seems that he wants to monitor my PSA instead. However, my MO suggested me to start
ADT
after radiation.

Levothyroxine and arrhythmia
Diagnosed with hypothyroidism in infancy. Been on treatment my entire life. Currently 200mcg levo daily. Last few years been having ectopic heartbeats and arrhythmia. Anybody else had this and is it linked to thyroid hormone treatment?

Use hormone therapy or not with Proton therapy
Hi All, Question, doctor is suggesting hormone therapy along with proton therapy (28 treatments of radiation) my gleason score went from 3+3 to 4+3 last year and psa doubled from 10 to 20. I tried to get in to this study to determine the genetics of tumor but they said tumor sample was bad. should

Heavy news today
Hi Everyone, I am feeling really bummed tonight…over the past 5 months I was on Enhertu, I qualified because of the destiny trials. Long story short it was a disaster, not only did I have infection after infection but I ended up with extensive uptake in bone Mets and spread to my liver again (originally

Hoping for Urologist Recommendations/Referrals in the LA/OC CA area.
4 years post Proton Radiation and
ADT
. I’m now having a few urination issues. Current urologist seems stumped. Hoping to find a new urologist in the LA/OC CA area that might have more experience with post radiation issues and treatment. Any names would be appreciated.

muscle and ADT issues and questions
It’s all a balance of course as the 20 session of 3Gy and 6 months
ADT
is a newer approach for contained PSMA/PET clear PCa even for high risk.

In regard to triple therapy, why is there an advantage to hit it hard initially rather than wait to see how
adt
and radiation does by way of psa? wouldn't saving chemo until psa rises make sense also? The idea being saving chemo until maybe
adt
no longer works

Thoughts on vacation and PSA
As context, I'm just finishing 12 months
ADT
+Nubeqa and last fall I finished 6 months docetaxel and SBRT to a suspect vertebrae and rib. PSA was 0.8 with 4-month doubling at BCR when I started all the above.

My Oligometastatic PCa Journey Continues...coming up on year 9!
It's been a while since I've posted. But wanted to offer a note of
encouragement
for those here that have
oligometastatic prostate cancer
. I was diagnosed in 2015 (227 PSA, Gleason 8, 1 MET in the spine) and still going strong. After years of
hormone therapy
, 6 rounds of
chemo

Low Testosterone and value of continuing Hormone Therapy
83 year old male with a question: My understanding is that the role of hormone therapy is to lower one’s testosterone level. Does hormone therapy provide additional benefits in fighting prostate cancer beyond lowering testosterone levels? I was diagnosed with high grade prostate cancer (Gleason 10

Prostate cancer treatment and sexual mutilation
Well well. In the midst of the club no one wants to be a part of and just wanted to add my input. It seems that the treatment of prostate cancer often glazes over the fact that you will be sexually impacted severely. Depending on treatment outcome that could be a 0 to 7. Seems like the topic isn’t really

Back in permanent AF and warfarin dose decrease
Hi All, I used to have paroxysmal AF which was ablated by Prof Schilling back in 2010. I had been in NSR. However I was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in the summer. I had huge delays and postponements before I had a biopsy. I eventually got the results 5 weeks later (rather than the two weeks promised

28 day versus 3 monthly Zoladex side effect -
I know it’s a bit unusual to have the monthly ones for long but it just happened with me as they weren’t sure if I could cope with the standard 18-24 months
ADT
due to my other conditions but seems I am probably able to - so going for it, given my G9 high risk and radiotherapy course.
