I'm a 58 year old woman and have been having very heavy bleeding and cramping for the past month. I have been on HRT for about three years and had to change my prescription due to previous bleeding. (I ended up in hospital in 2021) I was told I had a 6cm fibroid and it was being over stimulated by the hormones.
This time I've been told to stop the HRT altogether (a Mirena coil and estrogen patches) and this should solve my problems. The fibroid hasn't grown in size, but hasn't reduced either. So far it hasn't stopped the bleeding, it's been two weeks since stopping the HRT, has anyone else had this problem and if so, how long did it take for the bleeding and cramping to stop? I'm off work and my life feels on hold at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

Have they tried you on continuous HRT? I was changed to this in December and although it has not stopped my bleeding or pain altogether, it has helped a lot! And I can at least carry on with normal things .
Hi, thanks for your reply. I was on continuous HRT, and it seemed to work fine up to the coil coming out. I'm feeling done with it all now, I'll try to manage without, stopping the bleeding is my main priority!
