Mirena

I’m struggling to make a decision between getting the Mirena or doing the laparoscopy. I have struggled for very long with pain and was never diagnosed. It has now severely impacted my digestive tract. Will just doing Mirena improve or maintain symptoms.

The Endometriosis Clinic has recommended that I put the Mirena Coil in the meantime to help with this. Is anyone using or has used the Mirena Coil for these reasons and could you please share your experience with me? Thank you very much in advance. Xxx

Hi everyone, I've got my first lap booked for end of August and they say they can also put in the mirena coil during this. I'd love to hear people's experiences with the mirena coil, pros and cons, things the doctor doesn't tell you, anything you'd like to know before having it.

Finally had the mirena which helped so much. Had 2 mirenas so had it for 10 years. Awful insertions but got through it just. Came to have my 3rd mirena last year and my body must have changed/tilted as they've tried twice and each time it ended up being too low down after follow up scans.

After a diagnosis stage 4 endometriosis in 2016, I was fitted with a Mirena coil, which I'm happy to report was an absolute game changer in what had become a debilitating condition. I'm now in my mid 40s and on HRT (oestrogel) for classic menopausal symptoms since 2021.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience: mirena fitted feb of this year to prevent endo returning after pregnancy so just coming up to the 6 month mark.

If anyone could tell me about their own experiences with the mirena coil that would be so helpful.

Hi, I was diagnosed with endo earlier this year and had excision surgery. Due to continued bowel symptoms I had an MRI following my surgery which shows that I still have active rectovaginal endometriosis so I’m waiting to be seen by the specialist endo team. Hi I have the Mirena coil (my first) as well as the progesterone only pill for endometriosis management . I understand that the Mirena is licenced for 5 years for heavy menstrual bleeding.

Just had a call from the Endo Nurse as although previously declined the offer, I’m now backed in to a corner with my health that I’ve agreed to have the Mirena coil inserted to assist with my ‘now’ regular flare ups (& waiting to be listed for a hysterectomy). How have others found it?

Has anyone suffered the same symptoms since having their mirena coil out ? Thanks Tina

Would the combined pill, specifically microgynon 30, work just as well as the Mirena coil in slowing tissue growth/ lessening symptoms? The Mirena coil was recommended to me but I've been undecided for months due to concerns over my mental health.

Hi all, I have a mirena for a year, the symptoms got better but still not quite good. I went to the doctor and he recommend to take Vissane on top of it. Has any one tried both at the same time? Mirena coil and Vissane (or any hormone pills)? Thanks.

Hello,I have just had my mirena coil removed and have started my first period in 2 years. Today I have been struggling with endo belly and have been the most bloated I have ever been since my endo diagnosis. The bloating has been really painful to walk, sit down and pass water.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis back in September 2023 after suffering chronic pelvic pain for 3 years , along with severe bloating and abdominal pains. I was given 6 month trail on the prostap injections which helped massively, now I’ve been advised to go on the coil or I will be discharged. All

I feel constantly ignored, and nothing has been done in follow up, there is no monitoring, no treatment plan (apart from “get mirena”)

I am currently on the implant however my doctor suggested I have the Mirena IUD coil and I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Mirena and has any advice on whether this is a good idea!? Please any advice is appreciated thank you

Hi all, had a hysteroscopy Friday for mirena coil instertion as my uterus is tilted. Was a pretty brutal experience, managed to grin and bare it though and mirena was fitted. Appointment was roughly only 30 mins long, gyne could see I was in a lot of pain so worked quickly thankfully.

Hey, sorry me again 😂Just wondering if anyone with endo or endo symptoms has the mirena and how did it impact your pain? Did your pain pattern/cycle change at all?

Hi everyone, can you please tell me your experience with the Mirena Coil? I haven't had great luck with side effects both from procedures and medications, so I'm scared to try something that I can't easily stop overnight! Thanks x
