Hi All, is it ok to take vitamin D3 and one of the 3 Urso capsules at the same time with food? I take synthroid on an empty stomach when I wake up wait an hour have coffee and breakfast and this would be the time I would like to take these two meds. What say you? Ellyne

I take thyroid meds by 6 am each morning. It’s ok to drink after thyroid meds just don’t eat for hour after (so my script says). Ocaliva 12-12:30 & vitamins before bed. Thyroid, ocaliva & vitamins are spaced no less than 6 hrs apart. Not sure how you would space it with Urso.

Hi Ellyne,

I do not know of any reason why vitamin D3 and URSO should not be taken at the same times but you may like to run it past your doctor or pharmacist to be sure. Alternatively you could take all your URSO with dinner at night if you have been on URSO for more than 3 months.

I have Rifampicin which needs an empty stomach and because of other medication I take that tablet when I wake at night for the bathroom break anywhere between 4 and 5 a.m. As per the patient information leaflet I take all my URSO at night.

best wishes

I tried to take all my Urso with dinner and got heart burn so I went back to 3 times a day with meals. The other way was so much more convenient. I will ask my Dr since I am seeing him this week.

Good question, I don’t have thyroid meds to take so I take vitD3 while I prepare breakfast and Urso after it. My prescription for vitD3, actually states to take in the morning. I am not sure why, however I did read it should be taken with a meal containing some fat to help it’s absorption.

Hi Ellyne. I take my Vit D in the morning at the same time as my levothyroxine. My 750mg of Urso all at night. The latter as instructed by my doctor. I've read Vit D should be taken in the morning. Haven't heard whether it should be before or after a meal but having seen Candy12's response I'm going to have a look at that. I'd read somewhere it was best not to overload the liver with too many meds at the same time but I don't know how reliable that info is. As mentioned by others, when in doubt check with your doc. Hope you get some clarity. Best wishes.

Thank you all for your responses. My dr told me to take thyroid med and wait one hr before having any liquid or food. I am going to see him this coming Wednesday and ask him this question about Urso and vitamin D3 (taken at the same time).

I take 3-300mg Urso in the morning and 2 at night. My doctor just recently upped my D3 to 5,000iu and i have always taken them from the get-go with the Urso and I’ve never had any problems😉

I was told by the pharmacist that I can take vitamin D3 along with Urso. But not a multivitamin that also contains minerals.
