Hi there, I have been reading lots of info and posts about whether it's ok to take paracetamol. I was dx with PBC in Feb 2019 and since then haven't really had any need for taking paracetamol- until now! I have had a head cold for a couple of days and my head is now pounding- am sure a small dose of paracetamol will help but should I avoid taking it around the same time as my URSO? I still divide my URSO into three 250mg doses per day (with a meal) but some days if I'm on the run I might take one at breakfast, skip lunch and then have two in the evening. I was thinking of doing the same today with regards to the paracetamol - ie skip my morning URSO tablet and have it later in the day (hopefully once my head has stopped pounding!).
How do others take paracetamol when needed?
Thanks!

For the sake of a pounding headache I’d take the paracetamol first. Then take the URSO a little later.
The taking of tablets together with Urso seems to be something I can’t get my head around, not all tablets are a problem as I understand it. If i take any other tablets for anything else I take them a couple of hours before or a couple of hours after urso then I can be fairly sure I got it right.
If your really worried the pharmacist will be able to guide you, I did a review with them and they explained it all, but my brain leaks information and there’s no pill for that. Hope the headache feels better soon 🤕.
Hi, I was diagnosed in February too, following lots of blood tests during breast cancer treatment and surgery. I’m on lots of medication so I take the urso in one go at bedtime, which the consultant suggested anyway.
I have taken all three urso together after breakfast for 19 years now with no ill effects. A few years ago with a back problem and in great pain, I was allowed paracetamol only .Last year I fractured a bone in my spine and was given a box of 100 paracetamol to take and I took them as the box stated 4 times a day. I think I just took the first with the others after breakfast and didn`t have a problem. If you are concerned check with the pharmacist usually easier to get hold of than a doctor.
Consultant is the best person to ask failing that your GP if you’re worried.I have been a member of the PBC sufferers for 10+ years also have pills for high blood pressure, cholesterol, hate taking any pills but can’t be helped I stager my medication through the day but struggle when I need extra I get a few infections, when I need antibiotics (which I hate) and aches which I have regularly so paracetamol then comes in handy. As we all know every tablet we take carries a warning re your liver. I try to compensate all the pills with healthy eating. Think that’s the best we can do. There’s so much information out there now it’s a mine field. Good luck
Hi. I find it better if I take my 3 Urso tabs with my evening meal as I am on quite a few other meds. This gives me chance to fit in other meds around Urso. If I need paracetamol I'm OK to take these either hour or two before or after. Hope this helps.
