Does anyone here take meds for Fred and pbc? When I look these two up it doesn't seem like I should take together

I take omeprazole 20mg and also Zantac 150mg twice a day. My doctors said it was ok. I have been taking them since before diagnosed with PBC.

I take 1000 mg Urso (500mg x 2 day) and 40 mg nexium (once a day) or, 600 mg zantec (twice a day). I usually try to space them out. For example, I take nexium in the morning before I take anything else. 1-2 hours later, I take Urso and eat. So, I don't take nexium or zantec together with urso. Also, if you are on premarin (or some other hormone replacement drug) don't take premarin and urso together.

I'm finding things better since I separated them. I was on Parriet but am now on Somac 40mg twice a day, which I take half an hour before meals. The Urso I take with my meal.

Took nexium for years with urso and my pbc did not progress. I guess every one is different and only a good Dr taking regular bloods would notice if things were to change.

Can you please, clarify, are you taking urso and nexium together, at the same time? For example, you take urso at 10 am and you take nexium, at the same time, at 10 am? Thanks.

Yep 👍 I take Nexium upon waking, then my Urso with my evening meal, for about 2 years now, & it hasn't affected my results. X

How much urso a day to do you take? I take 1000 mg, in two doses, 500 mg morning and 500 mg evening. Do you take urso in one dose? Thanks.

Hi iagra

My dosage is the same, 1000mg, & I used to take it just like you, morning & night. But speaking to a fellow PBC sufferer who is being treated by a PBC specialist at Birmingham hospital, she was advised to take it in one go, & take it at night, which is the most beneficial time, apparently. So that's what I do now.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much! I'll check with my gastro, taking once at night would be so much easier, especially if this is the best time to take it.

I've been on urso for 6 months. GGT went back to normal. Other LFTs were normal to begin with. But, Alkiline Phos is still too high, at 180 (upper normal limit is 120 as specified in my lab results). Though, it did go down from 250 to 180 on urso.

Did urso bring your LFTs all the way down to normal range? How long did it take? Thanks!

My last bloods were : ALP 124 which has come right down & GGT 70, so still struggling with GGT, but it is better than it was. Probably took about 12 months, but I think everyone is different.

Keep smiling 😊
