I’m still trying to recover from a health crash from Covid in May, better results now and I’m looking better and a lot of symptoms better but I’m still struggling in a lot of ways too.
I believe iron and folate supplementation has now made my thyroid dose become too high so I’m knocking that dose back slightly and will see my thyroid doc next week, I’m on NDT so the low tsh is normal. I’ve become more anxious, agitated and struggling to get off to sleep the last few weeks and my heart feels more like it’s racing but this happens to me when I become over medicated and I’m very sensitive to t3 being even slightly over so that’s not all too surprising.
I’m still waiting on my full iron panel, vitamin b6 level recheck (this had become too high and was also seemingly giving me symptoms after taking 10mg continuously in a multi for several years which I’ve now stopped) and need to retest a few other things like the other b vits zinc, copper, selenium etc. which I will do in the next few weeks.
Could my vitamin d levels be better and is my ferritin now ok?
I’m injecting b12 twice a week.
GP prescribed me 5mg folic acid in August this year as I had become very deficient in folate after Covid. I didn’t take this amount as I’m very sensitive to folate supplements after an incident where I took a high dose of methylfolate in 2019 on the recommendation that I would need 5mg from a fb group to support my injections, even though my folate level was very good at the time (that’s a whole other story and I know that’s not the general stance on here) but I did take 400mcg. Now that my levels are very high in range would I be safe to try to drop back to a more conservative maintenance level dose of 200? It doesn’t say here but the range for folate ends at 43.3 so I’m very high in it now.
I’ve also had comprehensive gut testing which has revealed all sorts wrong, poor digestion of carbs and fats and dysbiosis with very low levels of bifido bacteria (though good levels of lactobacillus) and some nasties a bit too high though no yeast, parasites, pathogens or markers for “leaky gut”. I’m also going to be doing sibo breath testing next week. The test suggested betaine hcl supplements and some targeted probiotics. I’m going to be talking to my GP about it once Sibo results back though as he is the one that suggested doing those tests and said he would look at them with me but I do also have a practitioner I did the testing with.
So lots still to work on…
