Was at someoneās house yesterday who was doing some diagnostic work on my car .. knocked on the door , chap opened the door , ciggy on the go !!! invited me in ..omg , I nearly suffocated...
obviously, it wasnāt my house so didnāt say anything . As he was chatting away and smoking , I just wanted to get out of there ..
I think I thatās the closest contact with cigarette smoke in nr 6 months ..
when I got home I could still smell it up my nose , like it had got in me .. horrible š¤®
I guess I could have said about myself giving up and wonāt come in , but didnāt wasnāt to make him feel awkward...š

hi Rjg45
its funny the smell now,I can smell people in cars when they pass me when I'm walking.
when there's someone in front of you,up the road and you can smell it,you walk through it,
I know , I hate it , you can smell it a mile away now ..but as yesterday was the first time Iāve been face to face with it ..
I never smoked in the house anyway .. Iām sure I could feel my eyes starting to run lol ..was a horrible position to be in When your trying to stay away from it ...
I hear ya Rjg45 with the smell of smoke, makes me feel sick but unfortunately, we are going to come across it on a regular basis, I tend to smell my perfume on my wrist or my clothes when I get the smell....
My sense of smell and taste has got so sensitive since I stopped over 2 years ago and food just tastes so much better now..... I am continually coming across smells from my childhood, just today I got a whiff from flowers I got for my birthday (which was 3 weeks ago and still fully bloomed, never lasted long when I smoked ) and reminded me of my granny's house and the smell of her garden in the summer when I was a child
Was telling my doctor today that I find the smell disgusting now ..he said thatās good as will hopefully keep me away from them ..
my peak flow meter test was unbelievable good he said , being that Iāve smoked for years ...was impressed ... just told to lose weight now š lol
Yes Rig thatās what happens to me because my best friend smokes it doesnāt bother me as much as the first days I quit ,but is really awful when she forgets and smokes near me .
I always take everything in a positive way so I just thank God I hate that smell so much so I will never ever smoke again..š
She is my dear friend and I appreciate that she moves a little to the side to not bother me,but in reality she doesnāt know that I can still smell it .
By the way , she has a prescription of Chantix but she says sheās not ready to quit yet and all I do is cross my fingers and have faith she will quit one day ! At this point Iād learn nobody will make you quit . I respect her desition because I know how that feels but in the meantime I have to move even further no to smell š§
I guess You forget , how difficult is it to take the first step of stopping , where in fact , you stop when you go to bed at night !
Continuing to do so in the morning is the catch !!!
But as said , you do easily forget how you started your quit as time moves so fast .And before you know it , youāve quit 6 months š
So itās easy to tell someone else to quit but also understandably a tricky one as you know yourself what the addiction is like ...
I donāt have anyone close around me that smokes ..my airport job , thereās no smoking ... so I do notice that smell on work colleagues who smoke whoāve been outside for one ..
still think itās weird how horrid the smell is now ....
I do jokingly but also meaningly say to them ā you should give up ā ..but all I get is a smirk and a grin !!!
As said ...Easy to say I guess once youāve joined the quit club !
I can now smell when my next door neighbour is out for a smoke!! Didnāt even know they smoked until now and I was following a rubbish truck the other day that wasnāt so nice š congrats on your 100 days!! Canāt wait to get there myself !
Wow, I feel the same way. My friend went to break, now understand, I'm around smoking ALL the time.vI work in a casino! Anyway, he began to explain something to me, all I could think about was, wow, you smell sooo strong with every breath. Never did understand what he was saying, too focused on the smell.
Yep ... itās foul ... you can smell it a mile away and when your close to it , itās so so bad .. I have read some ex smokers still like the smell of it .... to me. That so I d like there getting some sort of fix from it š¤ I maybe wrong ....
but thatās where Iām at with it .. itās a horrible stale stench that isnāt like anything else , I donāt think ...
I was a point where I was a little rude to people smoking in my immediate vicinity as I am a person where if Iāve something to say I will say it ! It now learnt bite my lip as you need to remember how much of an addiction it is
And fir all you know , thatā person maybe trying to stop .. you just donāt know .. so I keep quiet now lol . But I hate it lol š
I am totally surprised how bad cigarette smoke smells this time around. I have quit smoking before and it always smelled good to me but now it always stinks so bad. I can't figure out why it smells so bad this time around. My boyfriend quit smoking also and he thinks it stinks really bad also. It's like it smells like out stale smoke even when it is. Maybe it's a sign this is the last quit we will have to do...
Perhaps Your nasal passages are clearer this time round or youāve been away from it longer this time š
But I think itās a good sign when we think this way ..even my doctor says thatās a good sign , as means your less likely to go back if you donāt like the smell of it ...
