I’m really struggling right now. My boyfriend and I were in a relationship for a long time, but he has been unemployed for a few months, and now he has to go back to his parent’s town. He told me that our relationship is over, and he’s leaving me for his family. I loved him deeply, and I’m devastated by this sudden change.

Being in a relationship for a long time is a wonderful thing, that sounds like you've made up with lunch about moving back home. Have you noticed any other signs that this might be coming before now? Usually there are but not always, we just don't want to see them. I get that you love him. I've been there with a couple of fellas in my life, my experience says 'don't chase a man to try to get him to stay - it never works'...

Find your big girl panties and say goodbye to him like a grown woman. Just hug his neck doing my smooch and tell him you'll miss him. It will be one of the hardest things ever do! but it will be one of the most mature things to do too and you'll be glad you did !! Maybe not right away, but you will be glad.
