Utis and clear urine.

I dont think conventional wisdom is the answer to my question.Every six weeks i get my sp catheter changed. When the doc changed it in the cystoscopy room, twice i had clear urine and no utis.

Anywhere else with that doc or nurse, i get utis and or muddy urine.

I say the air is filtered better in that room.

Whatever else could it be?

We always look after it at home the same way.

There is no other doc here who knows about sp caths.

I have now been put on preventative antibiotics before during and after the change.

Overuse of antibiotics is Not a good idea!

Any ideas

Any other forums i can ask this question on?

Thanks everyone

Got a note on the screen saying this forum is only for over 18s. I am a lot older than that! So why do i see it?

Check your date of birth on your profile to see if it is still correct. Are you drinking consistently too?

Are you referring to the message on the green banner? Everyone gets that!

maybe the different rooms are kept sterile differently . Be brave ask the doctor to be more careful with his hygiene during the change over. Certainly you are right about over use of antibiotics

the doc does not want to do something as trivial as catheter changing, that is now a nurses job. He denies any sterile differences. Of course. There is no other doc.

Overuse of antibiotics seems to be common!

Thanks
