I was having some issues and I suspected my testosterone level was low. My GP would not give me a blood test, though so I got one privately. The result came back at 7.01 nmol/L, which is considered low (I'm 37). I'm having a further blood test done soon.
My question is how low is this number considered? And what could be causing it? Thanks.

Im afraid just testosterone on its own is not enough. You haven't said why you thought you had low testosterone. You would need a morning testosterone sample to be accurate, also SHBG , liver function ( for the albumin ) thyroid, FSH and LH to complete the picture and calculate your free testosterone and exclude other endocrine abnormalities.
I suspected a testosterone issue due to sexual disfuction.
My GP has passed on the results to a specialist. But with the current situation that could be a long wait, so I'm curious as to why it could be so low. I have not had any other hormone related blood tests.
Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism Is a possibility. I have this and it results from a problem with my pituitary gland (which is smaller than it should be). I had to have an MRI to rule out a pituitary tumour. I also had tests for prolactin and cortisol which were OK. I am now on testosterone replacement injections at 11 weekly intervals for the rest of my life.
