Hi, I'm 25 and was diagnosed with prostatitis last year following about 4-5 years of issues with inflammation, pains and swelling in my prostrate area and perineum. They haven't categorised the type of prostatitis I have but I've been having awful flare ups for which they have been giving me 4-6 weekly oral antibiotics.
I am in so much pain and discomfort it gets to the point where, after a day at work, I could cry.
Does anyone experience pain with their prostatitis? If so, what pain relief do people recommend?
I have been given naproxen but don't find it very helpful. I have recently been given Codeine but I'm concerned about getting constipation as this will cause additional pain on the prostate.
I'm also having problems with in terms of flow, leakage, struggling to stop/ start, needing to wee sitting down and struggling to empty.
Any advice around pain relief would be so greatly appreciated. I'm getting so down with all of this and my GP seems so unwilling to help.

I presume you have seen a Urologist. If your discomfort symptoms are as you describe, your GP should refer you to a pain control specialist . The urinary flow issues are unusual , that's possible detrustor instability, again the GP or a urologist can prescribe medication to help with this .
I wish I could help - I am having the same issues - I won't take antibiotics because I have reacted so badly to them
My friend told me that a kind of herbal medicine called Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill is helpful for the treatment of prostatitis.
He had chronic prostatitis for about 7 years. He has consulted 7 to 9 doctors for treating this disease and have tried all possible treatments. But the infection still keeps on and off. He has no idea why it recurs repeatedly.
After he read a testimonial about a man with 20 years of chronic prostatitis and cured completely by the pill, he decided to have a try. After one course of the treatment, he felt the prostate pain was relieved a little. After taking this pill for 3 months, his urinary issues were almost resolved and the pain was relieved greatly.
