A Tale of Four Teeth …. and Apixaban.
Earlier this year, I posted my concerns regarding a forthcoming procedure where I had been informed that the dentist would remove four teeth and fit a cosmetic denture at the same time. All of the teeth were upper situated - one right in the front (which was a leaking abscess) and three, all close together

Recurring Pneumonia from Breast Cancer radiation treatment
I was diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer and went through two lumpectomies in April 2022, and 21 radiation treatments in May 2022, ending early June 2022. By the end of July 2022, I knew something was not right with my left lung with constant coughing, shortness of breath. In fall of 2022 I was diagnosed

cellulitis again….
Ugh! Woke up at 5am bank holiday weekend and realised I have cellulitis… No GP cover so 40 minutes holding for NHS 111 and now on 2 hour wait for GP call back to get some antibiotics. Why does it always turn up at the most inconvenient time? Tried to explain to the call handler that, although I can

First FDA-approved faecal microbiota pill for preventing recurrent C Difficile infection
As a few members of this group have testified, clostridium (C) difficile infection is an unpleasant experience. As the name suggests, the infection can be difficult to eliminate from the body even in the immune competent. In the immune-compromised, the difficulty is magnified and the risk of sepsis

round two!
remember how I was short of breath a few weeks ago, went to the ER, sent home on oxygen and told it was a cold. I spent four days on oxygen, then coughed like crazy for two weeks, staring the muscle under my ribs and throwing out a few ribs as well. then silly me, thinking it’s just a cold and I

Erythromelalgia?
I was diagnosed with cellulitis 5 or 6 weeks ago, I’ve had 2 lots of antibiotics, 2 scans to make sure no blood clots, this redness has spread around my leg and is now starting in the other one. My left leg and foot are quite swollen. I’ve seen various nurses and GP’s - never the same one twice - the

ICU cognitive damage permanent?
HiIn August 2021 I suddenly developed septic shock. I was rushed straight to ICU. The next day I was heavily sedated and put on a ventilator. I was in my coma for 3 weeks. In that time my family were called in twice as the doctor didn't expect me to make it. I suffered a type 2 heart attack (an MI

abscess in groin
I have got an abscess in my groin. I am on my third lot of antibiotics and have been violently throwing up and have been told that some of my stomach lining has come. You know my problem with eating due to pain and I have just read about gastritis. Does anybody else have this and does it go with thyroid

Cellulitis and ET
I’ve seen a nurse at my GP practice today (no doctors in!) I’ve got red swollen lower legs, that feel warm. She said it’s cellulitis and I’ve got antibiotics to take. Surprisingly she said she’d heard of ET, but just knew it was something to do with blood. Anyway apparently I’ve caught it early. She

GCA and respiratory issues?
This can lead to
bacterial
infections
, which leads to the severe cough. Since I never had this before GCA, and since part of my initial symptoms were respiratory, it's possible that my initial onset of GCA contributed to this lung damage.

Syphilis recovery / retesting question
hello! I have recently received a reactive result for syphilis, and was given the one shot of penicillin treatment. I work on a cruise ship, and so regular testing is not available sadly, and the doctor said I won’t be retested for another 3 months… this is driving me mad as my symptoms have calmed

To cochlear implant or not to cochlear implant?
I am new to this site. I'm 38, married, with three kids (ages 6, 4, and 9mo. Just before Christmas 2022 I started to get sick. It became so unbearable that I went to the ER on Christmas Eve where they gave me fluids and did a blood test. They said my white blood cell count was abnormally high and I should

Sweet tooth
A light-hearted post. Has anyone developed a sweet tooth post diagnosis. I would never eat sweets, chocolate or cakes before, but since I'm all over them. Maybe it's a substitute for the sugar I had in alcohol.

Compensated or Decompensated
I was diagnosed in May 2019 with Cirrhosis and my Hepatologist told me it was Compensated and I would be monitored in the liver clinic every 6 months (the pandemic put paid to that plan). I've subsequently had two endoscopies which show six varices, one of which shows some evidence of past bleeding.

Denosomab and Dental Treatment
I was prescribed Denosumab injections after osteoporosis fractures in my lumbar spine. The first injection was July 2022 and given by a nurse in the Rheumatology department. I was warned at the time that should I need invasive dental treatment (eg: extractions) I would be referred to a hospital. My

Pneumonia jab
Hisaw an article about pneumonia jabs, free for over 65 or other conditions.
