Anyone go through prostate surgery. I had TURP 3 months ago and it was pretty rough. I'm pretty much healed up now, but I still have to take the Flomax.

Prostate Surgery
As far as the prostate goes, I hope the TURP surgery was enough. I see my Urologist the first part of September for another PSA test.
Yes, I had three options. The Urolift is for a smaller prostate and that was not an option for me after they scanned my prostate in his office. I wanted the green light surgery, but in the operating room my doctor had to do a TURP because my prostate was too big. My doctor said that the TURP should take care of it for the rest of my life. I have to get another PSA next week for my follow up visit. My Urologist is the best in town. He did my vasectomy over 20 years ago. I had no problem letting him operate on me. You're right, it is the last resort because it is bloody, painful and you have a catheter tube in you for 4 days. It' not a small diameter catheter tube, either. I had to stay overnight in the hospital to get my bladder flushed out. Thankfully, I still get erections. I have retrograde ejaculation now. Actually, it's still painful sometimes when I urinate and sometimes I get up several times at night to urinate. That's why I still take the Flomax. I have a feeling it's not over yet.
Thanks for the info. A year to get better? OMG. I don't think I'll live long enough to get 2 or 3 TURPS.
I appreciate and respect your caution and self-advocacy but sometimes what is found during surgery is different than what is seen on the testing before surgery and makes the original surgical plan impossible..
