Prostate cancer

Four years ago I had 45 sessions of radiotherapy for prostate cancer. I am now unable to achieve a full erection but able to masturbate and experience the feeling of ejaculation but no fluid is ejaculated. Could this be a result of the radiotherapy ?

Dear Bernadinho,

I too have dry ejaculations. I had 43 radiation treatments for prostate cancer and I read that nerve damage can cause this situation. In my case I also had surgery to reduce the size of my prostate before the discovery of prostate cancer and the subsequent radiation treatments and that could have been the source for me. The urologist said it is called retrograde ejaculation, whereby the semen is ejacujstrd into the bladder and is urinated out. Like you it does not prevent me from having an orgasm and so in spite of E.D. you can still enjoy sex thru orgasms. Any questions I am sure your urologist would be glad to answer them. Mine was most helpful. I wish you the best. Cree

I had radiation for prostate cancer and have similar dry ejaculations now. As I understand it, it is because the radiation has caused the healthy prostate tissue to atrophy (the capsule is still there but the ejaculation musculature inside has disintegrated, gradually, after radiation). So now when the urologist does a prostate exam on me, he says "it's like you don't have a prostate". Not something that regenerates apparently. And orgasms occur in the brain – which is why men can still have them even after their prostate has been removed.
