Anybody else bothered with any of these - I seem to be going round in 'square' circles with them and the never ending anti-biotics don't help with the SLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi irenestephen
I don't get cold sores but i do get all the other things,to help with the mouth ulcers try liquorice ( a get sugar free but any will do),it has really helped with the pain and it seems to make them go quicker.Boils well anti-biotics is what works but that's what gives you thrush, try having Actimel one a day while you are taking anti-biotics should help it dose me. good luck.
Will definitely try your trick of liquorice for the mouth ulcers - have never heard of that one before. Actimel and other things like that including high performance drinks my Rheumy. Cons. has told me I should not take them - along with certain other things (like lemsip, ibuprofen, caline and morphine, cough mixture etc) because of the immunosuppressants (that has got to be spelt wrong but too tired to look it up - sorry )!!
Thanks for the reply - Irene x
hi irene - the hydro cortisone pellets that dissolve in the mouth r the only things that take away my ulcers - cold sores r a nightmare 4me!! the only thing that seems to give me any relief is germolene cream lol. makes them go away 4 a wee while!! natural yoghurt doesnt taste nice but sometimes helps with the thrush 4me - but im talkin bout a full 500g tub a day for a couple of weeks before it takes effect!!! seems to be just hit and miss with this stuff. sorry cant be of more help. keep smiling x
I get mouth ulcers and my dentist prescribed a mouth rinse called "Difflam Oral Rinse". Its good stuff, I recommend it but you'd have to speak to your doctor. I was using Bonjela which burns your mouth, the dentist told me to stop and gave me the rinse. It numbs your mouth a little but it gets rid of the sores and you can use it every 3 hours up to - I think its one week...I was diagnosed with dry mouth syndrome a couple of years ago, it goes hand in hand with SLE. I also get toothpaste and mouth wash on prescription, helps to make things more comfortable...See your GP
thanks for the reply - I am seeing GP tomorrow so will check with him about the mouthwash and toothpaste you have advised on - anything is worth a try.
