Disappointed to not see "Twatt" and "Shitterton" Me and husband also do stuff like this and when we really want a larf and there's nothing on the TV, let's face it the world seems awfully orange at times, we watch "Horrible Histories" on iplayer. "Such fun!" Thanks for starting my day off with a larf, although it does hurt because of my prior moans this weekend. 😁
It’s great you & your hubby do the same sort of thing. I’ve always said i love it when people have a ‘naughty’ sense of humour. My mum & i would laugh alot together. She died 7 yrs ago. I miss her every day. Oh well. Keep laughing! X
I'm so sorry for the loss of your Mum. It really hurts, but I remember one of the funniest things me and my Mum laughed together at was the men using "Veet" hair removal products on their "bits" and their reviews of said product. We laughed so hard and for so long that I thought we would never stop. A few weeks later, she unfortunately and quite unexpectedly died, but that funny episode makes the loss of now 13 years a bit easier to live with. You literally have to laugh. My husband and I make up our Karaoke lists that we can sing when we go into the care home that we can't afford. Still I have known him since I was 17 and I'm just 65. He's always made me laugh. I don't think he's ever used Veet.......🤔🥴
I know memories are so important. My mum lived alone. My dad died when i was 17. (He was 52). He had a massive heart attack. Very sad. My brother was 24. My mum was 52. She was a nurse & just took over the reigns. When my brother & i left home. She lived alone & enjoyed her own space. I remember a lovely summer day. She loved to cook spicey food. I always remember one occasion. I had some of her spicey mince with rice & noodles. Her garden was lovely. Really blooming. It was warm but not hot. We both loved listening to jazz. She had it quite loud while we sat in the garden & ate & laughed together. We had lots of lovely memories. But that day will always be special to me.
She sounds like such an amazing and very strong woman and I expect you're a chip off the old block. Thank you for sharing your special time. Enjoy every single memory of her, I know I do of mine. Always here if I can help. Namaste 🙏
What a sweet reply. Thanks. My mum was a very hard working nurse. Very well thought of. A very kind & quite an emotional woman. She was from Belfast. Came to London in 1954 when she was 19. She loved to jitterbug. She told me she would practice on a rooftop at lunch times. Her eyesight was quite bad. She’d take her glasses off to dance. But didn’t realise there were office people opposite that would watch her. We used to laugh about that. She used to love to hang out in Soho. She didn’t drink much. Just loved to dance. One night, a very la-di-da man asked her to dance. (Bad vision again!) She said to this man. I thought George Melly was going to sing tonight. The guy said ‘I was under the impression i was’. It was actually him. My mum hadn’t realised she was dancing with George Melly. (He was quite a well known jazz singer!) We used to laugh at that story. She could laugh at herself. I think that’s a good trait to have.
It's really funny isn't it. My Mum was a dancer, but her Dad said she couldn't do it for a living - not respectable enough so sent her to secretarial college, but she kept dancing, all around the kitchen when we were kids. I was so right about your Mum - to come from Belfast, that's brave, to be a nurse, that's really brave and to dance with the King of British Jazz, even braver. Bless our Mum's. 💃💃
So sad your mum didn’t reach her full potential. But at it’s great she carried on dancing!! 👏👏

I’m going to an open mic tonight with my partner in Teddington. I’m going to sing a couple of songs. I’m in the Mood for Love (Julie London) & Can’t Help Loving that Man. I’ve sung at quite a few now. It takes my mind off my health crap. Music’s another good form of therapy. X

Thanks. There’s a lovely little pub right near the one i’m singing at tonight. The Mason’s Arms. A proper old boozer. Loads of interesting niknacks. Brilliant juke box, dart board. Lovely landlady. They do an open mic once a month. I’ve sung there twice & the landlady & other customers were so complimentary. Really lovely. I get so nervous. But i like pushing myself.
You'll be fine. You're singing for friends, but most importantly because you want to and it gives you a few minutes away from your other stuff. You go gurl 👏 🙌
