Hello, I was told that I have SLE and more recently, that I also have antiphospholipid syndrome (no symptoms for APS besides lab results). I'm only on Plaquenil and a baby aspirin along with Vitamin C, D, and iron. I'm not sure if I need a medical alert bracelet or not, or if that would be an overreaction. Any thoughts?

Medical Alert Bracelet?
Ive had a silver medical alert bracelet for about 3 years and I wear permanently.i thought the same as you was I over reacting 🤔 but a mistake at the hospital once changed my mind.when I was discharged they contacted my gp telling them to prescribe me a drug I cant take.....thankfully my gp knew this and told me.i would like to think that it would never be needed but having worked with people who couldn't communicate very well I though what if I had a stroke or an accident.im also steroid dependent and it's all on my bracelet along with allergies.i have a pin number on my bracelet which allows hcps to ring a number give the pin and get my history but you do what feels right for you.for me it was the right decision 👍I dont think anyone should question something that makes you feel more secure or comfortable xx
Can you tell me what brand your bracelet is? I've had trouble finding one with enough space for everything!
Hi Nellie,I've had a medic alert bracelet for decades. Initially it was for my asthma but now covers everything else too. I have a card in my phone case that has more information on it, there is also the phone number to ring for all my history. Here in Western Australia the service is run by our ambulance service, St John Ambulance. It is called Medic Alert and our hospital's use it for more information. You just contact Medic Alert to alter any information you need to. It's been great as I have a list of allergies and illnesses, am on anticoagulant and have an implanted spinal cord stimulator. Can't get all that on a bracelet!! It's really up to you, if you think it will help you feel secure, go for it. If you are not sure see what your GP or specialist says about it. It certainly can't hurt you any further so not a harmful option. Take Care 🥰
