I am getting a kitten!!

Just thought I would post a happy event. I live alone - moved to the city I live in now for work at a local hospital. No friends or family. So, thought maybe rescuing a kitten would be good for me! I don't know what to name her. She is 8 weeks. I was thinking Rain (but spelled Rayne)? My co workers suggested Fraya, Shade, or Kate. Lol

ah Willow she is gorgeous !!!! I had one like this many years ago look at those gorgeous chunky paws 🐾! I think Rayne is lovely but how fitting would “shade” be bearing in mind we do have to be in the shade ! Sending you big hugs and trust me your bundle of joy will be the biggest bestest time thief ever ! 🥰

I was thinking Shadow, but a lot of pets are called that..and her grey and white...so Shade came to mind. I was thinking Rain because I got her last weekend, and couldn't go pick her up because we were having the tail end of a tropical storm and the rain was so bad ! I live in Canada, in New Brunswick, but the kitten is on Prince Edward Island, and when we get high winds and torrential rain they close the bridge.

im sure whichever you pick will be grand , my lovely dog came to me with the name frank, nice as it goes 🤷‍♀️ but it doesn't suit him and I cant change it because he knows it so well so we call him frank when talking to him but we call him beans (beanie baby, because hes intact) or my daughter calls him Romeo (because he runs off and she says where for art though Romeo 😂😂😂😂)

I adore cats and she looks wonderful. They give just the right amount of gentle attention and I find one on my lap one of the most calming things. Kittens often take time to become lappy as they are too occupied having the zoomies or sleeping. We rescued one who was 1 year old and she's taken a year to become lappy.

I have always named cats after a character trait, busy lizzie became Lizzie, etc. Rayne is indeed a super name, perhaps she will reign supreme. Perhaps take joy in finding out all her little characteristics and go from there! I wish you joy with her, they are a true gift. x

Beautiful kitten. Grey & white. Pets are great. I have a hamster called Sidney. He makes me laugh. He fell over the other day. Got up quickly, as if he didn’t want me to see his embarrassment. Got covered in sawdust! I think you should name your kitten Barbara, or Susan. I just think it’s funny giving pets human names. That’s just my sense of humour! I would like to get a dog. Then call him Steve or Dave. When he’s off his lead, running. I would just shout out his name & men would turn round. Thinking i was calling them. Quite amusing. Good luck with the kitty training.

That is so cute! I have always wanted a dog. If male, I would call him Floyd. But, I work in nursing, and my hours are long. Having a dog now wouldn't be good for the dog. I need a pet that can stay home alone for 8 hours or so. My mother said to get a fish. - ummm no. Lol

🤣🤣 I agree. A fish? Is just too boring. You can’t get a good conversation from a fish. You can’t take it for walks. With a cat, a dog or a hamster. At least they can sort of communicate. My Sid often squeeks with me. I’m not sure if he’s telling me to go away. Or if he’s saying ‘good morning’. It’s just funny when he ‘decides’ to answer me. I’m going to say something rather rude. (Enjoy your pussy!) 🤣

my little one was called Alvy Singer (toy poodle) after my dad who’d passed — he was Alvin.

And the main character in one of my favourite films (Annie Hall) is Alvin “Alvy” Singer.

Alvy passed away in April 2022. Was the light of my life. My everything. My very sweet, funny, dear boy.

I wish you so much joy and good health with this furbabe

Enjoying the name ideas. My cat is called Emily Dickinson. Just a thought: if the kitten is going to be left for long periods each day it might be worth considering getting a second kitten so that they can entertain and provide company for each other.

A few name suggestions:

Annie

Bubble

Chilli

Daphne

Esme

Freda

Georgie

Hetty

Inky

Jessie

Kenzie

Lily

Molly

Nala

Olive

Polly

Ruby

Wanda

Xena

Zelda

Best of luck x
