CBD/ medical marijuana??

Hi everyone. I am in the UK and I have lupus, fibromyalgia, Raynaud, myositis IBS and the list goes on.

I don't know very much about CBD or medical marijuana and wanted to know if you can be prescribed it on NHS or what's the best thing for lupus.

I went to a stall the other day and the guy was showing me sweets, capsules vaping etc.

I have been in alot of pain medications and very strong and high doses, but there is always a underlying pain and sometimes the meds don't do much and don't last long. I have seen alot on the TV and news about CBD and it's interesting to see how people have taken to it, done good and some it hasn't worked for.

I just want to know if anyone (in the UK mostly but all replies welcome) is or has used any of those and how you found it, if it did or didn't work, side effects......

Thanks for your time and replies. 😃

I have a friend similar to you. She is polymyositis and fibromyalgia. She can’t cope with the oil as it relieves all her fibromyalgia pain. Her rheumatologist even comments how well she looks.

Of course what works for one does not necessarily work for another.

It’s quite pricey too, but I guess if it works it’s worth it. I will find out for you what one she uses.

I very much doubt you could get it on prescription as it’s still

Hey Lisalou19,

I noticed how expensive it is, I was shocked. But I do get it though, like anything else in life it's about people making money. I just don't know what to try, something's get into the system quicker than others. I didn't think you could get it on prescription.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

I have been using CBD oil since February with great results. I had been thinking about it for some time before and done various google searches etc, my increased use of painkillers was becoming worrisome as I still had some pain. I spoke to the chemist and decided to give it a go with excellent results in fact I’m not taking any painkillers regularly which for me is amazing. I had a appointment at the hospital to see my consultant for my SLE and told him I was taking it and he said he has seen a lot of patients using CBD oil and with good results. However it may not work for everyone but as it’s classed as a food supplements and easy to buy you have nothing to lose other than the cost of the oil. I do hope it works for you.

Hi Ncut,

I'm so glad it has worked for you, what do you use, did you try a few different things or did you go straight to one certain product? I'm not a smoker but I have heard the vape is a good way of using it or the capsules. There is a lotion or massage oil that is said to work well also, I'm willing to try I just want to find the right product from the right source, I don't want someone that will rip me off with fake products etc.

I'm going to do some more research and try and figure out what's the best way to go. Thanks so much for your advice.

I am a big advocate for CBD products, they have been a tremendous help in controlling some pain associated with my autoimmune disorders and fibro. I have used CBD rub that helps surface pain for example it works fantastic on my tendonitis and muscle pains. I also have used a hemp (CBD) tincture that goes under your tongue that helps systemically. It is definitely not a cure-all but I have been able to cut down on taking pharmaceutical painkillers.

I have tried edible medical marijuana and I had a very positive experience, in fact if it was legal I would prefer marijuana to Pharmaceuticals any day for pain contol. I do not like the THC (high feeling) affect that comes with it. That is what's so great about the CBD products it is the part of the marijuana plant that does not get you high just gives you the medical properties of the plant. I am by no means an expert on marijuana just learning about it myself as I go along, but for me CBD products have been extremely helpful in reducing my overall pain. I

Thanks so much for the info. I will definitely go and have a look on Boots and see what's in there. I have heard alot of positive about it no negative but I just want to stop being in so much pain and have less of the strong pain killers.

Thanks so much for all the replies I will definitely go have a look and do some more research!

CBD is contraindicative for many conditions and when combined with drugs frequently used in autoimmune patients. Please check with your GP first. Statins, ssri's warfarin, steroids and many other drugs become stronger when taken with CBD oils. Here is a good resource to read before you decide to ask your doctor about supplementing with it. doh.dc.gov/sites/default/fi...

So sorry to hear that. That's the thing it doesn't help everyone. I know the feeling. Sometimes I just want to lay in my bed and cry but you have to put on that brave face for you kids and muddle through, but it's so hard.

I appreciate your honesty. Thanks

hello,

I have Lupus and several other diagnosed autoimmune disorders which cause severe pain and inflammation.

I have not yet used CBD oil myself but intend to after seeing the positive imrpovements in my husband's health problems, associated with Chronic Prostatitis that was unresponsive to medical treatment and anxiety. in his case he also took curcumin or Tumeric root. He was very sceptical before but not anymore.

It was his own specialist who recommended him to try it and im so glad she did.It has helped decrease his pain/inflammation and anxiety significantly.

It is a considered purchase. I don't think its available on the NHS. Lets face it no drug company wants to invest in it because they cannot patent it as it is a natural substance. Therefore, no research so have to rely on anectdotal reports of which there are many.

A word of caution if you do take prescribed medication as it could enhance or decrease the effect of that.

The other point is that price and efficacy is also determined by the percentage of cannabanoids that are extracted from the active ingredient.

My husband uses 8%. Most of the dosages that I have seen are less than that, which

would have little or no effect on him.

One of the best companys I have found and bought from is Primal living.comThey have a very ethical approach and I trust them.

good luck

Thanks so much for the reply and the info. Still looking into it. I get it's one of those things where it works for some and not for others. Just trying to figure out what's the best thing to do, either try it or not. There are still some things that can be explored with medications and infusions for me so it's just for me to decide what way to go.

Thanks alot
