What over the counter meds for stomach upset can I take with Warfarin? Before Warfarin I took Alka Seltzer and Pepto Bismol.

I was told I can take gas x and imodium. Are there any other OTC meds I can take without aspirin? Thank you.

Hi Loretta. Me again!! Do not take any drugs unless you inform your Rheumatologist first. Everything you put in your mouth can change your INR. I have med for stomachpain that I can take if I want to but I have got that on prescription.from my Rheumatologist.

Hi there, please do get in touch with your GP or consultant and check to find out what can and can't be taken in your own particular case. Hope you feel better. MaryF

An easy help is to drink water instead of all those other things. Room temperature water. Water is a natural buffering agent and most health professionals believe that most of us do not drink enougfh of it. I count my glasses and aim for 6 a day--though if the weather is hot and I'm sweating a lot, that number can easily double.

Substituting water for all those other drinks is not a quick remedy, but it may help reduce your need for anti acids in the future.

Wow, thank you so much everyone. I definitely have to ask my doctor advice re over the counter meds and I definitely have to drink more water! Good reminders.

I always eat a tablespoon of peanut butter to coat my stomach before taking meds....Also plain soda water or ginger ale works.....fresh ginger (eat a small piece) is great for indigestion /

I take a full cup of yogurt in the morning, better if it is not the industrial type. Gastroscopies have shown no stomach ulceration or damage so far. I had been on aspirin for the past 7 years and more than two years on plavix.
