I was always told paracetamol was the only non-prescription option. Latest UK advice doesn't even allow full dose of paracetamol (half dose max - 4 * 500mg in 24 hrs).

Basically if paracetamol doesn't do it, need to see a doctor (other options are prescription only). Probably need to see one anyway if headache is persistent or long lasting, such headaches on warfarin should be investigated anyhow.

Oh I didn't realize that. I must be coming down with something as I haven't had a headache for ages. Thanks for the advice!

Hi Ray46

I drink 6-8 glasses of water during the day and I’ve found that I no longer get the headaches unless INR is out of range. It’s still wise to see your GP because a number of other problems could be causing your headaches.

Ray46 is right re only paracetamol as non prescription pain relief and any new long lasting symptom should be investigated. So if doesnt improve I a few days mention to your GP or warfarin nurse.Rule of thumb is not to take any medication containing aspirin.

Drink plenty of water, we tend to forget in the winter, dehydration can also create headaches.

Hope your not coming down with anything but wish you a speedy recovery.

I would have a quick chat with your GP or specialist if you are having bad headaches, I hope they come up with something you can try. MaryF

I always get headaches when my INR is too high or too low. I change my Warfarin dose and it goes away.

I’ve been getting headaches / tension headaches maybe for the last few months but can’t find a link. My INR is fine though. They aren’t intense but they are uncomfortable. It’s become quite chronic and makes me really anxious. Has anyone any experience or advice with this. Docs have done MRI of brain but can’t see any issues.
