My daily dose

This is my every Sunday chore, probably like many of you to fill your pill sorter. I’m quite anxious about supply chain and pending tariff’s . They could impact all of our abilities to get the medication’s that we need at a reasonable cost. Do you have a 90 days supply of all your medication’s? In particular blood thinners?

Yes I agree with you although I don’t take clexane . My anxieties around Lovenox and availability and cost. Should there be supply chain or tariff issues?

Mine is Dalteparin. There is a world wide shortage of heparin so anything that disrupts its supply will be life threatening. That along side the withdrawing of Heamatology services makes you wonder what value they put on people’s lives now.

That’s why I am anxious as well. I feel like people don’t think through the end impact on those of us dependent on these medications. Some of the medications I take are “ Nice to have”, vs. Heparin which I have to have to live. I will try to buy more than I need if they will let me.

Clexane is the generic form of Lovenox

Thank you funny , I did not know that. Then yes I am a Celexane user. I thought the generic name was Enoxaprin Sodium?

You are welcome. I have taken Lovenox and recently received it through male order as Enoxoprin. I thought I got the wrong med. Generic versus Brand name isn't always spelled out on prescriptions. Best to you.

Clexane is branded enoxaparin, primarily marketed by Sanofi, commonly used in Europe, Asia, and other regions.

Lovenox is branded enoxaparin, marketed by Sanofi in the U.S. and some other markets.

Enoxaparin sodium is the generic name for both.

Dalteparin is another LMWH, similar to Enoxaparin, but it has differences.

I take quite a few more but thankfully I get mine free . I am allowed a months supply.I sometimes go and collect from chemist now and they can’t get what’s on my prescription so I am left in limbo for a week or more til they find alternatives.I do order well in advance before I am due .Brexit shook things for a while and still do but you are helpless aren’t you

We are worried about that here in the US as well, on top of them taking the initiative to gut our free healthcare and possibly dismantle our disability payments. Lovenox (or enoxoparin) is around $1000 without private insurance or free insurance for seniors and disabled. Most of the blood thinners, even direct orals are around the thousands monthly. So yeah, big worry all around

What dose and quantity are you buying for $1000 without private insurance?

Enoxaparin can be purchase with GoodRx coupon from Walgreens for about $160 for 24 syringes of 40ml each. I would suggest looking at GoodRx for your dose and number of syringes to see if it is less than the $1000 you quoted.

I'm very lucky in that my (small) Pharmacy keeps an eye out for availability of my meds and has them ready for me once a month in a Webster pack at a small cost of $3/month. If it looks as though i'll run out of anything she'll call me and I get an eScript sent to her. The other benefit is that when travelling it has a list of meds and doses on the back so I don't need bundles of paperwork! The Clexane, however, remains bulky and can't be slimmed down.

It is always a worry, and now more than ever. And yes, with my insurance , prescriptions are for 90 days. I have 6 of those weekly boxes and if something is getting low, I put a note in my calendar. With 6 boxes, I can monitor things ahead of time. Sometimes it takes the pharmacy a number of days to get my blood thinner in! Anyway, see if you can get your hands on a couple more of those boxes, to reduce your weekly chore and worries.

i’m super thankful for everyone’s thoughtful responses. It’s just not me that has this anxiety about not being able to get what I need to maintain my somewhat fragile health. This motivated me to go out and buy an extra 30 day supply of Lovenox. I was able to get that for just over $200 US.

let’s hope all of us on this thread get what we need to maintain our health, independent of politics and the risk and impact it has on supply chains

hi. Are those prescriptions? Or supplements? I take only Warfarin. The rest are supplements in my box. I hope everyone can get their supplies ok

20 plus years of catastrophic anti phospholipid antibody syndrome and the assorted long term impact of prednisone, chemo, meds and autoimmune. Sadly I take 15 prescription medications, That includes two injections, Lovenox and Teraperatide. I do take a couple of supplements as well.
